it was about midday next day by the time noa had woken up, it seemed as though her sister and friend had already woken up and left on their own, based on the empty beds.

noa made her way down the stairs, slightly confused at the almost silent house except for the sound of the keurig brewing. she turned the corner into the kitchen to find her ex boyfriend standing over the machine.

"hey" he smiled realising she had entered

"hey" she smiled in return, "where is everyone?"

"belly and jere are somewhere they wouldn't say and poppy and cadence went to explore, they said you needed to sleep" conrad explained

"oh makes sense" noa nodded her head

"coffee?"

"that sounds great right now" the girl chuckled taking the mug he held out to her

the pair moved to sit at the counter with their coffee in hand, comfortable silence spread over them as conrad tried to work up the courage to talk to her.

"so um, do you think we could talk about the uh..." he started

"the funeral?" noa asked facing him

"yeah, the funeral" conrad confirmed

"what is there to say?"

"noa i know you feel like you played a part in what happened that day-"

"we both know i played a part, i was the whole reason she acted that way so don't like me being there didn't do anything" noa cut him off

"but-"

"we're back!" jeremiah called out as he and belly entered the kitchen with grocery bags in tow

"you guys went to the store?" noa asked trying to get conrad attention off of herself

"yeah we thought about leaving but didn't want to listen to him" belly chuckled

"we didn't just get groceries" jeremiah started, "we actually went to see aunt julia"

"how did that go?" conrad was shocked

"not great" jeremiah rolled his eyes, "talked to dad yet?"

"no"

"um i might go get the rest from the car" belly began to walk away

"yeah i'll help" noa sped after her

"hey um," jeremiah began to talk after both girls had left the room, "i want to be there when you talk to dad. i'm better with him lately, and once he sees how passionate we are about keeping the house he'll have to let us use our trusts."
