XIII - "The Wait"

Sanji

"I was so worked up. I already bought groceries, had everything set, I am ready for the evening."

I texted her: See you later. :)

Violet said: Alright see you later.

"I'm so excited to see you at diner time.! I replied
Violet: OK

Violet said she wanted to talk, I already knew what was coming. So I prepared everything. I did it in a way that she changes her mind once she saw it all.

I can't sleep, so I cleaned my room, sprayed perfume all over.

I can't stop thinking how she would react, how she would look after seeing everything.

As soon as I was done cleaning my room, I cooked the pasta. My dish for the evening was Seafood Marinara. I bought some squid, tuna flakes and shrimp. I mixed everything, added a bit of basil and a pinch of oregano and thyme. While I cooked the pasta I had the pork marinated for the barbecue.

I could smell the aroma of the cooked marinara all over my room so I sprayed the room again with my perfume. The I cooked the barbecue.

Facebook status message: I am ready..

I tried to sleep, I can't. I tried to eat, I can't. And so I said to myself, Will she choose me?

6:00PM Everything was prepared. The food the table the wine. The room was well scented. There's only one thing missing, Violet.

She hasn't texted, she hasn't called.

I texted her: Where are you?

No reply. I tried to call her. I am still blocked.

10:00 PM still no response. What is wrong with her. Then 12 midnight came. My phone beeped its her.

Violet: I'm sorry I can't come its too late.
I replied: You should've told me earlier.
Violet: I slept.
I replied: Slept? OK.. Never mind you wouldn't understand how it feels to be stood up.
Violet: Sanj...
I replied: I'll just take a sleep pretending this didn't happen. And then I shut my phone off.

I slept, I knew she is going to pick the other guy, I just wanted to take a chance and she ruined it.

4:00 AM a knock. I didn't mind it, I am just probably dreaming. Then someone came in.

" Fuck I forgot to lock my door. You better not be a thief because you are surely going to get what you came for..." I said on my mind while clenching my fist getting ready to punch.

Violet: Sanji I am sorry I didn't mean to hurt you.

I remained silent pretending to sleep.

Violet: I wanted you to know. That I really loved you but I can't. I..

Then I said,
"I tried to prepare all these to hopefully change your mind. To make you choose me instead. I'm tired. I can no longer stay like this."

"I don't want to be just an option. I want to be just the one."

"If you can't. Then I guess we should end this."

Violet felt my voice trembling.
She was holding my face as she watched my tears fall. The she held my chin up and kissed me. Slowly, gently and sadlyy she said,

"Bye Perv I can't do this anymore."

And after she said that I opened the wine and drank all of its content.

"Ahhh... That tasted good. Let's say cheers and no to forever and some couple more fugly guys." I said

Violet: Stop saying that.

"Well we should really stop." I said still feeling the sweet wine going down my throat.

Violet: Yes, I need to go.

I watched her get up, prepared her things. Sprayed my perfume then she opened my door and just left me sitting there. Broken.
