Onyx and Lloyd stood together, watching Dr. Julien repair the falcon. Onyx struggled to ignore the cacophony the others were making, irritably wringing her hands. What if the stone warriors heard them? Lloyd touched her lightly on the shoulder. Onyx took a breath, forcing herself to calm down. If they were too loud, then Wu would step in.
"Every cog, every gear is important. If one piece is missing or out of place, the invention won't work," Dr. Julien said, slipping a final gear into place and closing up the Falcon's chest. "Come now, little one. Time to fly," he said, picking up the falcon as it reanimated and hopped to its feet. Onyx noticed Lloyd looking anxious for some reason as the falcon flew to the others, who had been told off by Wu. Speaking of which, the Sensei was approaching them.
"It is like you ninja. You each serve very important roles and are key parts to a magnificent fighting force," he said to the two. Lloyd's eyes narrowed with worry. "If we're all gears, what if I'm the gear that doesn't work? What if I don't do my part? What if I can't defeat my father?" He asked. 'Ah, so that's the problem.' Onyx put a hand on his shoulder. "What if there are no more "What-ifs"? The Final Battle is almost upon us. When that time comes, we will know the answer to what ifs whether we like it or not," Wu said. Onyx nodded. "And we'll be here for you when that happens. No matter what," she said.
The others approached. Onyx quickly removed her hand when Jay winked knowingly at her. "I know you don't want to face your father, but there is no other choice," Nya said. Misako waved her finger. "But perhaps there is. I used to think it was inevitable, but then I found this," she said, holding up a scroll. "You mean Lloyd doesn't have to fight? This I gotta hear," Cole said. Misako rolled out the scroll. Onyx didn't like the look of its contents. It showed a helmet atop a figure's head, who was shadowing over the Stone Warriors.
"The scrolls say that when the Helmet of Darkness is bequeathed to its rightful ruler, the Celestial Clock will count down to the activation of an unspeakable weapon. The first sign that the Final Battle between good and evil has begun," Misako said. "Did you just say "unspeakable weapon?" Kai asked. "I'm still stuck on what 'bequeathed' means," Jay said. "It means 'passed down' or 'given to," Onyx explained. "Go on, Misako. Don't let us interrupt you. How do we stop the Final Battle?" Cole asked, waving a hand at the two of them to stop talking.
"There is nothing here that explains what would happen if the Helmet of Darkness is returned," Misako said. Wu twirled his ward thoughtfully. "Interesting. Remove the helmet, the clock starts. Put it back, the clock stops," he said. "And the Final Battle never starts," Lloyd realized, hope flashing in his eyes. "Uh, that sounds great and all, and I know we have our new powers, but you expect us to get past his whole army of Stone Warriors and pluck the helmet off his head?" Kai asked incredulously. "My brother's right. They're good, but they're not that good," Nya agreed. "You didn't have to say it," Jay said.
Misako nodded. "I know. And that is why I am going to do it. I'll just need a little help. In order to get past their guards, we need to first get control..." Onyx was distracted from what Misako was saying by Wu. "I'm sorry, Lloyd. This mission isn't for you," he said. "But I'm all powered up. I can help," Lloyd argued. "We mustn't let you and your father come face to face yet. We're trying to prevent the Final Battle, not welcome it," Wu said. Lloyd reluctantly nodded. "Yes, Sensei," he said.
"I can stay here and help guard the camp if you want," Onyx offered. Lloyd shook his head. "You've unlocked your powers, and they're stable. You should help the others," he said. Wu nodded. "Lloyd is correct. I trust that you are able to control your abilities," he said. 'Wait, so he knew that Lloyd-? Ah, never mind. It doesn't matter.' Onyx nodded. "Okay. Be careful," she said. "You're the one who needs to be careful. Make sure you come back safe," Lloyd said. Onyx gave him a reassuring smile before turning and rejoining the others just in time to hear Misako explain her plan.
