The party that Mi-Nah dragged me to was a barbeque in a small garden. Some of Mi-Nah's acquaintances were having a housewarming party. Once we parked the car in front of their house, the sweet smell of barbeque was hitting our nostrils.
It was light outside even though it was late in the afternoon and the sun was low on the peach sky. The spring was starting to come in Seoul and the temperature was finally beginning to warm up a bit.
The music wasn't loud but it could be heard clearly on the street. As soon as we met Mi-Nah's friends we were warmly welcomed by them. The atmosphere was full of excitement and happiness and it was in stark contrast with my own feelings. . I was a wreck inside even though my poker face was on. I felt so low, especially after reading Yoongi's last message. How was I supposed to answer that? Yes , he was right,we really need to move on and find happiness and healing with some other persons. But why do I have this stupid feeling of emptiness? When I was with him I was really unhappy ,but now when we both want to move on, I still feel unhappy. Wasn't I supposed to feel relieved?
Mi-Nah was already whispering into my ear that I should find someone in this crowded place. It was indeed crowded and I could see alot of guys who seemed to be alone, without partners.
"We can make a bet. If you don't find a guy who is willing to ask for a date, or at least exchange phone numbers with a cute stranger, then you'll have to buy me lunch at work for the rest of the year." Mi-Mah was into having bets and I could read it on her face: the excitement and the provoking smirk she was giving to me.
I was amused by her request and I really needed a distraction from my own sorrowful thoughts:
"Well that sounds so cliche Mi-Nah, but I'll try to personally ask out a guy. See, I'm very brave and willing to get me out of my comfort zone."
I was already scanning the crowded place when I noticed a guy with silky black hair. What caught my attention was his smile that could definitely win many girls' hearts. He was cute indeed. And seemed very sweet. He doesn't have that hot smirk on his face nor the dangerous gaze that could read all your soul's secrets. He didn't look like Yoongi. The only thing that this guy resembles with Yoongi is maybe the raven black hair. But trying to find pieces of Yoongi in another guy wasn't a good start so I quickly shook off the thoughts.
I was waiting now for the opportunity to start a conversation with the cute stranger, but I didn't want to be rude, interrupting his chat with his friend.
I was asking Mi-Nah if she knew him and apparently a friend of hers knew the guy. The only thing that mattered to me was whether he's taken or not. Luckily, he was single.
I simply continued to stare at the guy until he appeared to notice me. After exchanging some flirty glances and smiles in each other's direction , he slowly approached me, leaving his friend alone.
He was looking radiant and curious.
"I was trying hard to remember some good pick-up lines, but I failed miserably. So I'm gonna stick to the classical:have we met before?" He tried to maintain a serious face but I could clearly sense the underlying intention to make a funny joke .
"And you're gonna receive the classical answer :I'm pretty sure we haven't. Surely I would remember a face like yours. I'm sorry I was staring like a creep. I didn't want to interrupt you and your friend."
I knew I was terrible at flirting, considering that I still have another guy in my head right now, but I will rely on the fact that the guy seems interested in me, despide my clumsy attemptions to flirt.
"That's nonsense. What are you apologizing for? There's nothing offensive about a beautiful girl that checks out a guy. It's actually very flattering. "
The tone of his voice was so calming and soft. It was so different from Yoongi's deep and raspy voice. God, I really should stop comparing him with Yoongi.
"My name is Y/N! It's really nice to meet you."
"My name is Shin-won Park! It's nice to meet you too!"
Since I broke up with Yoongi I desperately wanted to prove that I can move on from him. I miserably failed to do that lately, but now I am determined to make efforts and leave my past behind. I wasn't very happy to find out that he was a musician too, a guitarist more exactly. He usually plays in a live band with different artists on stage and he's also a member of an acoustic folk group. We talked about the differences and disadvantages of our jobs as he was sort of sad that he was soon going on tour with a big musician. He's gonna be the guitarist in his live band. He couldn't say which artist ,because it was a secret, but apparently it was a very popular one.
Out of nowhere,as we were talking, it began to rain very heavily. The rain was pouring, getting people very wet. It was still in the beginning of March so the rain was very cold. Soon all the guests were rushing inside the house. The sign of the rain just made me think more about my doubts and my emotional turmoil. I just prayed that the rain can also wash away my worries and cleanse my soul. That I can start over with someone new. I wasn't in a hurry inside cause honestly this weather just made me think about how much I want to go home, drink a cup of warm tea and watch tv. I did put a lot of energy this afternoon trying to get away my anxieties and pain. And trying to talk to new people. But at least I got Shin-won's phone number. And he promised to call so we can grab a cup of coffee before he goes on tour.

Dark clouds were still hovering over us as I was waiting for Mi-Nah in the car. The heavy drops were splashing on the car's window. Mi-nah was running towards the car. She was soaking wet when she climbed into the driver's seat.
"Oh dear God! It's pouring outside. It wasn't exactly a smart idea to have a barbeque party in the garden ,in the beginning of March. But I guess it's a good sign right? It symbolizes good luck and prosperity. "
I was silent ,thinking what rain symbolizes in Shakespeare's Macbeth...tears,sorrow and anger. But let's be positive this time and hope that this pouring rain will bring emotional release and a chance for a new beginning.
"By the way...you lost the bet Mi-nah. You'll buy me lunch for the rest of the year!"
