On Sunday morning, I awoke to the sight of the dormitory bathed in winter sunlight. I quickly sat up and scanned the room, but the heavy curtains had been rearranged yesterday and blocked Colin's bed from view. Madam Pomfrey approached me noticing my consciousness and handed me breakfast along with a potion to drink. She assured me that I was fit to leave.
After getting dressed as fast as I could, I rushed to Gryffindor Tower to share the news about Colin and Dobby with Ron and Hermione. However, they weren't there, so I left to look for them.
As I walked past the library, I came across Percy Weasley. He seemed to be in much better spirits than the last time we had crossed paths.
"Hello, Y/n," he greeted me. "Your flying was excellent yesterday - truly excellent. Thanks to you, Gryffindor has taken the lead in the House Cup, and you earned us fifty points!"
"Thank you, Percy. By any chance, have you seen Ron or Hermione?" I asked.
"No, I haven't," Percy answered, his smile fading. "I hope Ron 's not in another girls' bathroom."
I chuckled awkwardly and asked, "What about Fred and George? Have you seen them?"
"I haven't seen them, but they were talking about something - actually, never mind. Have a great day, Y/n," Percy concluded, his smile returning briefly before departing.
As Percy walked away, I couldn't help but wonder what he wanted to say. Why didn't he just come out and say it?
Anyway, I made my way to Moaning Myrtle's bathroom. While I couldn't imagine why Ron and Hermione would be there again, I checked to ensure that Filch or any prefects were not around. To my surprise, I heard their voices emanating from a locked stall.
"It's me," I said, entering the bathroom and closing the door behind me. There was a sudden noise of a clunk, a splash, and a gasp from within the stall as Hermione's eye appeared through the keyhole.
"Y/n!" she exclaimed. "You gave us such a fright. Come on in."
"Alright," Y/n agreed, squeezing into the stall. An old cauldron sat on the toilet, and a crackling sound from beneath the rim indicated that they had lit a fire underneath it. Creating portable, waterproof fires was one of Hermione's specialties.
"We would have come to meet you, but we opted to begin working on the Polyjuice Potion," Ron explained as Y/n, struggling, locked the stall again. "We've decided that this is the safest spot to hide it."
Y/n began to share the details about Colin, but Hermione interrupted.
"We already know - we heard Professor McGonagall telling Professor Flitwick this morning. That's why we decided we'd better get going-"
"The sooner we get a confession out of Malfoy, the better," growled Ron. "Do you know what I think? He was in such a foul temper after the Quidditch match, he took it out on Colin."
"There's something else," I said, watching Hermione tearing bundles of knotgrass and throwing them into the potion. "An elf named Dobby came to visit me in the middle of the night."
Ron and Hermione looked up, astonished. I told them everything Dobby had told me - or hadn't told me. Hermione and Ron listened with their mouths open.
"The Chamber of Secrets has been opened before?" Hermione said.
