They enter a dark room, with broken pieces all around it.
"I don't like this. I don't like this at all."
"Where are we? A graveyard?" Harry looked puzzled
Ron: This is no graveyard. It's a chessboard.
Walks out onto the marble board and flames light, illuminating the board and GIANT players. Y/n, Harry, and Hermione come up with him.
"There's the door." I pointed out
We walk across the board, towards the door. Suddenly, as they reach a line of pawns, the pawns bring up their swords. The four jump and back up.
"Now what do we do?"
"It's obvious, isn't it? We've got to play our way across the room. All right. Y/n, you take Bishop's Square. Hermione, you'll be the Queen's side castle. As for me, I'll be a knight. "
They all take their places.
"And what about me?" Harry asked Ron
"Err. Uhm just stay by the side for now."
"What happens now?"
"Well, white moves first, and then...we play."
A pawn on the other side moves forward. Ron studies the game.
"Ron, you don't suppose this is going to be like...real wizard's chess, do you?"
"I don't like the sound of that," I said
"You there! D-5!"
A black pawn moves forward, diagonal to the white pawn. The white pawn raises its sword and smashes the black one. The three jump.
"Yes, Hermione, I think this is going to be exactly like wizard's chess!"
The game continues. Pieces smash each other, and boom! Boom!
"Castle to E-4!"
Smash!
"Pawn to C-3!"
Smash! Boom! The Queen turns, and smashes a piece! Harry, Ron, and Hermione wince.
" What the hell Ron?" I said
The Queen turns once again, and both Ron and Y/n analyze the board intently.
"Hold on a second." I looked at the chess pieces
"You understand, don't you, Y/n? Once I make my move, the Queen will capture me...and you'll have a chance to checkmate the King."
"No, Ron! Please don't do it!" Harry yelled
"What's happening?"
"He's about to sacrifice himself!" I said
"Ron, no! There must be another way!"
turns to face Hermione.
"Do you want to stop Snape or not? Y/n, it's up to you now. I know it. Not me, not Hermione, not Harry...you."
