As the uncontrollable acceleration overtook Oto, the red star in the middle of their vision enlarged. When it was big enough, its light began to release an intense and blinding glare. Oto needed a moment to adjusted to the brightness. But after they had, a celestial body came into focus in the center of the light. One Oto recognized as a sun.
Oto was flying into a sun. The significance of this fact became very real as the sun continued to grow and move closer to them. Any moment now, they would ram into the sun and be incinerated.
I need to stop!
Suddenly Oto halted, but they were still on edge. The sun was still pretty far away from them, but with the increase in scale it felt like the sun was close enough to be on the other side of a room.
"Wait. . . Huh-?!"
There was something odd about the sun. While the surface was enveloped in crimson flames, in one corner there was a black spot encircled by a patch of orange. These flames made the sun look like an eye. A giant. . . fiery. . . eye. . .
Oto froze in fear when the implication of this observation was realized. Not only did this sun look like it was an eye, but there was a small adjacent planet that the eye-sun seemed to be staring at.
The eye-sun hadn't moved yet, so it may not have noticed Oto yet. Or maybe they were just caught up in the moment and overreacting. If it were an eye, given where Oto was, it should of reacted to his arrival or at least twitched by now. Honestly, anyone who saw the eye-sun would probably come to the same conclusion they had. But it seemed to be just an oddly colored sun. Since there was no danger, Oto let out a sigh as they realized how silly their thoughts were. They even let out a little giggle.
That was when the eye-sun began to twitch back and forth as flares shot out of it in all directions. Then its red surface darkened and the pupil narrowed.
Oto was spurred into action and quickly noticed a cluster of meteors beneath them. If only they could-
THUD.
"OW!!!"
Oto suddenly shot into the cluster and landed face-first into one of the floating space rocks. While their forehead hurt a lot, they pushed the pain aside pushed themself against the rock and out of the eye-sun's line of sight. If that thing spotted them, there was no telling what it would do if it found them.
If that thing doesn't know I'm here, maybe it'll just move along. Or maybe I can figure out how to fly out of here and-
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?"
"Aaahh!!!"
Oto jumped out of their hiding spot when they heard the voice manifest in their mind as their own had been doing. However this one sounded like a deep and booming blast of thunder.
Slowly Oto looked up and over the meteor. To their horror, the eye was staring back and now filled their vision as it loomed over them.
