The depths of the fog glowed with a sky-blue light. At the same time, it seemed to be gathering within the space in front of the miner.

Another blue square appeared before the miner and her pain began to fade. She looked down at herself and saw the cuts and bruises across her body closing themselves up and disappearing. Out of the corner of her eye, she also saw the illumination of the still gathering light on the floor. Then, the edge of that light started to move closer.
The miner lifted her gaze to the light and saw a collected spot of light approaching her through the fog. She rushed to her feet and tried to imitate a stance she'd seen the Tall Ones use.
A glowing figure floated out of the fog. It looked like it was made up of the light that had been gathering, but its doll-like appearance was what the miner was focussed on. There were big yellow eyes that seemed to float in front of the blue ball that was its head. A small torso dropped down below the head encircled by four stringy cords that ended in tiny lumps that resembled hands and feet.

An explosion of pain surged through the miner's head that was so intense, it forced her back to the ground. She couldn't even summon the will to let out a scream. All she could do was writhe on the ground at the mercy of whatever powers had taken hold of her.
Thoughts began to take shape in her head and flood her mind. Her understanding of the world expanded and reached beyond the walls of the caves she'd known for the majority of her life. Ideas she'd never understood before presented and explained themselves to her.
Then the pain and ideas stopped.
The miner now lay on the ground, her new thoughts creeping into her memories and dissecting the world she thought she understood. She sat up to examine herself, now aware of how different the Tall Ones were from her and the rest of the Miners.
Her ears were longer than the Tall Ones' and flopped down over her shoulders. Her skin was green. Almost as green as the leaves on trees. She had fangs amongst the teeth in her mouth. There was no other conclusion she could come to.
She was what the world called a goblin.
