The blue square faded from sight and the swirling fog surrounding Oto and the goblin began to pull away from them. As the fog cleared, Oto started to examine the lights that were growing brighter in the thinning mist. But they weren't lights. What encircled the two was a menagerie of various items.

A knife, sapling, cloth, glass bottle. . . There didn't seem to be any specificity to the collection of glowing items surrounding them. But Oto could feel a power emanating from each one.

    [ Select a relic. ]

Another window appeared before the goblin who was just as dumbfounded.

"Okay." The goblin's attention retuned to Oto, who's omnipotence helped piece the situation together. "Apparently some kind of 'tutorial trial' is starting that will test you somehow."

    "What does that mean?"

"Essentially, you are supposed to choose one of these items and a test will begin to determine your affinity for it. Then, if you pass the test, the relic will grant you some of its powers."

"Which should I choose?" The goblin looked around her as she asked the question. Oto also glanced at a few of the relics before answering.

"I suppose it just depends on what ability you want. That burning coal will give you the power to control fire. Those shoes will increase your agility. The map allows you to know the location of everything within a select region."

Oto continued to point to one relic after another and explained the powers it wielded. But it did little to aid the goblin's plight. Even if there weren't so many choices, how was she supposed to choose one? Then it occurred to her what she needed.

"Would any of these relics help me fight the elves?"

The Cosmic continued to search the relics one by one, keeping in mind that the goblin beside them had no experience with weapons. However she did seem to have a crude idea of how to fight based on the stance she'd used earlier. Taking these facts into consideration, one of the relics that strengthened her physical abilities would have probably been the best choice for her.

After a few moments, Oto pointed the goblin to one of the relics. A piece of metal that looked like four rings that were melded together.

"I think that relic might be the closest to what you want."

Following Oto's suggestion, the goblin advanced to the relic at the edge of the cleared space and lifted her hand to claim it. But, as she did, the relic flew to her hand and slid over her fingers. She also felt the same sensation on the fingers of her other hand.
