[ The Dark Elves have been registered. ]
[ You have been assigned the title, 'Guardian of the Dark Elves'. ]
Oto's projected consciousness floated alongside the goblin (now dark elf) as she read the notifications that had popped-up. In addition to renaming of the race, she seemed to be recognized as its leader and protector.
Zap!
A surge of energy was drawing Oto back to Ireree's workspace in the Cosmic Realm, where another notification was waiting for them.
[ New race (Dark Elves) has been registered. ]
1) Dark Elves / Guardian / 23 / Gauntlets
2)
3)
. . .
( Race / Leader / Population / Relic )
"Not too bad for a first attempt. What do you think?" Ireree asked.
Honestly, watching the dark elf's fight with the elves had been an unsettling experience for Oto. She was very aggressive. But witnessing her sympathy and kindness to the fellow members of her race alleviated whatever concerns arose.
"I guess it was okay. What should I do now?"
"Hmm," Ireree took a moment to think before answering. "I'd say that the dark elves are okay on their own for now. Although if their leader does decide to challenge the elves, you may need to bring her back to the Relic Treasury in the future. Until then, you'll probably have some downtime to experiment with."
If so, how should Oto have spend their time? Ireree had been really helpful, but they still had a lot to learn about how all of this worked. As they were trying to choose where to begin, their eyes fell to the majesty and elegance around them.
The Relic Treasury wasn't unlike Ireree's workspace in function, except for the fact that it was just a bunch of items thrown about within a fog-filled stage. On the other hand, this workspace was a distinguished and refined facility. Oto was probably going to get to it eventually and it was as good a place as any to start with.
"Ireree, how can I make the Treasury more presentable?" Oto asked.
"Bring it out, I'll show you how to reshape it."
Ireree had already talked Oto through the process of calling forth a saved structure. They began to reach into their inner space and pull out the Treasury. Only when the space opened to them, they found more than just the Treasury.
"Why is this here?"
"What?"
In response, Oto called forth a planet small enough for them to balance in one hand.
"Oh. Well you see, an aspect of your power is now being used to strengthen the dark elf. As a result, you now have a link to that world which is empowering you to alter it however you want."
Oto didn't really understand what Ireree meant, but they did recognize the sphere before them. Which raised another question.
"So then I've claimed the planet as my own?"
"In a way, yes and no. The planet is still out there in the timelines but for all intents and purposes, that is also the planet. You can just think of it as an interface to that specific world."
Oto reached out to draw the planet closer and examine it. However, a sensation enveloped their palms when they touched it. Pulling their hands away, they found their handprints pressed into the world. . .
"Yeah, you'll need to be careful when handling planets in the future." Ireree cut in. "No need to worry though, this kind of accident is easily fixed. Focus on the impressions you made and envision your hands pulling back from them."
Following Ireree's instructions, the handprints lifted away from the world and disappeared like a rubber ball reseting its shape. After a relieved sigh, Oto proceeded to examine the planet, now with a very delicate touch.
Across from them, Ireree was taking advantage of the opportunity to sneak a peek at her own world. Helping Oto had taken longer than she'd anticipated and had left her feeling Nicki-deprived. Still sitting at the table, her vision extended into her inner space to Nicki's island. Only she couldn't find her. Not just on the island, but anywhere on the planet. She was gone!
