After the wolves caught the deer character they found a small hollow nearby and decided to take a break."Are you gonna finish that?" Hailey asked, pointing to the XXXL Hamburger Grey was holding. It was so big he probably wasn't gonna finish it anyway. He handed it to Hailey who bit off almost half of the comically large sandwich after one bite.
One of the drawbacks to using the Big Bad Jacket was that it quadrupled the user's appetite while they were transformed. Before the burger Hailey had already burned through the spending money she had on hand to buy food from the store. After that she proceeded to finish off some leftover pizza and a bucket of fried chicken the pack had saved from the past three days.
While the transformation was wearing off it was a slow process. Hailey had already shrunken down halfway to her normal height and her muscles had started to recede. But her lips were still pulled back to accommodate the monstrous jaws in her mouth. Which was unfortunate for the rest of the group since that was the part that was the most unsettling.
"Tho-" Hailey was still chewing when she tried to speak. ". . . how many more do we need?"
"About a dozen more." Pierce answered.
"We've still got a way to go."
Lupe wasn't wrong, the forest was too big for the six of them to cover. They also had no way of knowing where other characters were. The only chance they had at finding anyone was to wander around and hope they could find someone.
Hunter, is there anyone out there?
Nope. Just a bunch of darkness and trees. But I'll keep looking.
Okay let us know if you find someone.
Will wouldn't normally send Hunter out to patrol while he and the other members of pack were resting, but they had a chance to acquire a legendary item. Furthermore it was one that could synergize with the one they already had. Every member of the pack was onboard to acquire the Wolf's Disguise even if they had to work harder.
"Ugh. . ."
The group turned to Hailey who was clutching her stomach.
"Guys, I think it's happening. Ulp."
Hailey covered her mouth and leaned forward. Everyone else gave her some space and looked away.
"Bleu-BLEUGH!!!"
A brief splash accompanied Hailey's retch and silence fell on the group as their disgust subsided. Pierce was the first to speak.
"So, what is it?" He was trying to draw everyones focus away from what was on all their minds.
"It's the Thief's Cloak."
"And how is it?" Lupe added, trying to keep the conversation going.
None of them were going to turn around and look. Everyone in the pack agreed that if this happened, they would be respectful and understanding. After all, it could happen to any of them.
"Not too bad. It's a little chewed up with some. . . spittle. But a cleaner should be able to fix it up."
It didn't happen often but every now and then, after using the Big Bad Jacket and consuming another character, whoever did so would regurgitate an item the character had equipped. Albeit in a more unpleasant state than when it was consumed. If it was a good item they'd clean it and keep it for themselves. Although it was more likely that they'd just sell the items to a junk shop for quick money instead.
