"Is this Y/N Y/L/N?"
"Yes it is," I answer while handing off an order. "I'm a little busy, may I ask who's calling?"
"My name is Detective Conners and I'm with the Los Angelos police department," she responds quickly.
"Oh um give me two seconds."
I mute the call, turning to one of my employees, Soojin, to check and make sure they are good without me. When they assure me they are, I thank them and rush to the break room in the bake of the bakery.
"Sorry about that," I rush. "Is there something you need?"
"Yes, I am calling because we have arrested David Frazer on charges of attempted murder and assault and batter against you," Detective Conners informs me. "There will be a trial and you will be required to be there to bring these charges forward and to testify against him if you choose."
I take a breath, processing the information before responding. "Do you know when the trial will be held?"
"Not yet, but I will contact you when I know more," she promises.
"Okay thank you so much," I hum.
"Of course, have a good day."
Detective Conners hangs up and I take a seat, going over the call. While I don't particularly want to ever face that asshole again, I need to put him in jail. I need the closure.
"Everything alright?" Soojin asks as soon as I step back out onto the floor.
I nod my head. "Yeah, I actually just got some pretty good news."
She smiles, rising her eyebrows jokingly. "Care to share?"
"You know that asshole from the states I told you about?" I didn't tell her everything, but her and my other main employee know I good bit about David.
She nods her head to get me to continue.
"He got arrested again," I break out into a smile, finally processing the news. "And he's actually going to trial this time."
"Oh my god!" Soojin starts jumping up and down in excitement, rushing over from where she was at the counter to hug me tightly. "That's fucking awesome!"
A cough comes from one of the tables, causing us to see and older woman giving us a hard stare. Soojin quickly apologizes and turns back to me. "I'm so happy for you!"
Then she pauses. "Does that mean you have to go back to the states for the trial?"
I nod my head. "Yeah, and it'll be for a couple weeks at least probably. I'm not entirely sure yet. Will you all be alright without me?"
(I have to physically hold myself back from writing y'all every time I write you all because of my southern roots lol)
Soojin immediately nods harshly. "We will be perfectly fine. Just go make sure his ass lands in jail. You won't have to worry about us, Miyeon and I will make sure everything runs smoothly."
"Are you sure?" I question again, still feeling worried and a bit guilty for having to do this.
"Yes we will be fine," she assures me with a bright smile. "Everything will be fine, nothing is going to crumble without you here."
"Okay okay," I huff playfully. "I'll try not to feel to bad about you not needing me."
She slaps my arm in retaliation, rolling her eyes. "Shut up."
---
"I'm home!" I call, slipping off my shoes once I enter the house, closing the dorm behind me.
After a few moments of no response, I call again only to have the same reaction. "Guess they aren't back yet."
