I really tried to relax, I promise I did. But as soon as we got home, all I could think about. was how the trial was going to go, how the jury would respond to it, and whether or not I had a chance to win.
"Bub?"
I snap my head up, looking at Jeongin with a slightly dazed expression. "Huh?"
"You've been staring at the wall for a while. Is something wrong?"
We are sat in the living room, a movie is playing in the background, but I haven't been paying attention to it. Too caught up in my worries about the trial.
"No I'm fine I-" a groan falls from my lips. "I'm just worried I guess? Trial is in two days, it's only right I get anxiety about now."
"Hey everything will be fine," Jeongin pulls me into his chest, his arms wrapping around me tightly. I bury my head into his chest. "Sidney said you have a really good chance at winning and we have all the evidence we need to put him away. Everything will work out the way we want it to."
"You sound so sure," I mumble, trying to move impossibly closer to him.
"I am," he affirmed immediately. "He will get what's coming to him, I know it. He's really only got you aunt and uncle as witnesses, Sam said that they didn't think any of his friends are going to testify for him. They seemed pretty appalled when they learned what happened. And, no offense, but your aunt and uncle are certified crazy, so I really doubt the jury is going to take them seriously."
"None taken."
"And anyways, I'm solidly sure that the three oldest are not against a little violence if we somehow don't win," Jeongin chuckles lowly. "Which, I mean personally, I wouldn't mind."
I whacked his arm, letting out a small, airy laugh. "We are trying to get him into jail, not any of us."
Jeongin shrugs his shoulders, looking at me with a cheeky expression. "I didn't say they would get caught."
"CHAN!"
The aforementioned leader comes sprinting into the room. "What? Is something wrong?"
I motion towards Jeongin. "Your youngest here is planning to help you commit assault."
"I'm sorry wh-"
"I didn't say I was going to help!" Jeongin scoffed, interrupting Chan's question. "I just said I wouldn't be surprised if those three committed some minor aggressive actions!"
"And said they wouldn't be caught!"
"Doesn't mean it would be because of me!"
Chan hods up his hands, getting in between the two of us. "Okay children, calm down! Now what was this all about?"
"Our little soulmate here was being insanely anxious about the trial," Jeongin points to me. "Which is understandable. But I reassured him/her/them about the odds and all that. Then maybe, and only maybe, did I mention that you, Minho, and Changbin might commit some kind of violent assaults against the asshole if he, by some fucking miracle, doesn't go to jail."
"Okay fair enough," Chan nods, moving to sit on my other side. I turn to him, shocked.
"I'm sorry, did you only respond to that as fair enough?"
He shrugs his shoulders. "I'm not advocating for violence, but if he somehow does end up free and gets anywhere near you, I see that as him starting the fight. We'd just be ending it."
"Okay so maybe I should have called for a more sane perspective," I huff, sinking into my seat.
Chan and Jeongin just laugh, both moving to lean against me, and I let them. I cuddle further into the heat once they are settled, closing my eyes and lying against Chan's shoulder. Jeongin wraps his arms around my waist, burrowing his head into my neck. I take a few deeps breaths, allowing my anxiety to fully settle, and am out like a light.
