Ok so for these rant pages, this is just me getting all my thoughts out without worrying about much else so of some parts are a little hard to understand them,, sorry oops

Anyway, Max is prob gonna be an importsnt character in season two, and tbh I rly hate the idea that he's like Jake ex or smt bc that just makes no sense to me. There's so little content for Max that I'm not going to make any sort of headcannons or anything involving him at all until we properly 'meet' him in season two.

On him being Jake's ex, it just feels weird bc he's had a crush on Daisy since middle school, and before that he had no friends at all and was bullied a lot. Max could potentially be a "love interest" to create more conflict and rival Daisy and/or Hailey (the two closest to cannon love interests) but I feel like Rosy might not want to go down that path. 

Max is 100% going to create conflict, that's just how storytelling goes with creating a new character at the start of a new arc. But i feel like Hailey probable crush on Jake and Jake's crush on Daisy might be enough romance drama. We all k ow how much Rosy loves her angst, and everyone knows that too much romance related angst can get frustrating and overdone sometimes.

(Quick sidenote- I have very little doubt in my mind that there's gonna be some Lander angst. I don't know about a full break up, but there's prob gonna be some sort of arguing/disagreement).

My personal theory on Max considering all the information we have:

1. Max is an old online friend. Jake didn't tell anybody about his passion for so long before Daisy, but Max (who Jake had a hard time recognizing) knew all about it. My theory is that they were super close online friends in middle school, but drifted apart once Jake got in person friends (the jomies). It would explain why Max is so familiar with Jake, but Jake had to take a few minutes to remember him.

I also don't like the idea that Max is a past bully. If he was, why would he sound so friendly and excited for Jake? He called him 'Jakey' which, while it could be teasing (like Jake and how he called Hailey princess while they hated each other), wasn't really said in any kind of mean way. And I sincerely doubt this is a problem with the voice acting, we all know TMF voice actors are top teir so I have no doubt that Max's mood swings are intentional.

Speaking of his mood swings!!

He's super aggressive and rude on what we see of him right before the club goes on stage- acting sort of childish as well. He seems sorta cold when the unnamed emo guy tells him that he "found them" (which is an entire thing in itself- why was he specifically looking for Jake? What does he want??). And when talking to Jake, he's being super bubbly and excited while also like trying to be mysterious?? Like bro went:

M: "I'm so glad you still have ur passion for singing, Jake!!"

J: "Thanks, uh, who are you???"

J: ",,wait, MAX???"

M: "Hi Jakey :D!!!!"

In case you can't tell, I don't trust Max. We barely know anything about him and he's had like 3 lines (same amount as Elliot lol) but he just feels weird to me. Like, Jake took a moment to remember who he was, but Max seemed SUPER familiar with him. (and if he's someone Jake knew in the past, and Jake has changed a lot since then, why was he able to know him so easily?)

I also don't like the idea that they're cousins or family btw bc of the previous paragraph. If they are, then Max seems sorta obsessive if he's that familiar with Jake while Jake barely knew who he was.

Keep in mind that this is just my random thoughts on this guy and it's all just silly theories and speculation based off like 2 total minutes of content for him, and I'm sure Rosy will make his character a lot different from what I'm expecting, but that's what so fun about it!
