"Well Claudius, we're onto the last three tributes for the Seventy-Third Annual Hunger Games." Caesar Flickerman's voice said through the television screen, "Blush Perkins from District One, Wade Rankine from District Two, and Jesse Moiter from District Four. All three are Career Tributes."
Kylo watched anxiously as his lover crossed the screen. He had blood splattered across his shirt and looked beyond tired. The arena had been "Ruined City"— littered with excessive amounts of brick, cobble, and metal. Many tributes didn't need to find weapons and instead used the clutter as a way of defense. He had watched Jesse use several items in attempts to win the Hunger Games himself.
"You're going to make yourself sick watching that, baby." Irene told her son, her emerald eyes looking at his exhausted ones, "When's the last time you ate, Kylo?"
Kylo shook his head, "I- I don't remember."
"When's the last time you slept?"
"I..." Kylo thought for a moment, "Don't remember."
Irene shook her head and watched as Finnick entered the room, his eyes landing on the TV. The mother let out a small cough as she gestured to the youngest brother. Finnick's face immediately turned to a frown on it when he saw the state of his brother.
"Kylo..." Finnick began, "I'm going to the market today, do you want to go with me?"
Kylo looked up from the television, "I'm okay. I need to stay and watch this."
"Kylo, I think it would be best if you got out of the house. You haven't left since the Games started." The blonde woman told her son.
He shook his head, "I really don't want to leave. I know it's almost over."
"That's what you've been saying for the last couple days, Ky." Finnick reminded his brother as he took a step forward and placed his hand on his shoulder, "Come on, we won't be long. Annie's going with us. She's been wanting to see you."
Annie Cresta-- Finnick's girlfriend-- was always kind to Kylo. She always knew what to say to him and knew how to help him in times of trouble. When the Seventy-Third Game began, she immediately went to check on Kylo, knowing that him and Jesse were close. It was almost like a motherly instinct forced her to him.
"That sounds nice." Kylo said, his eyes breaking from the screen.
"Does it?" Finnick asked with a smile, "Well if you want to go, you better hurry and go get ready. We'll be leaving soon."
"Okay." Kylo nodded.
As soon as Kylo left the room, Irene turned the TV off. She put her face in her hands and attempted to rub the stress from it. Finnick walked to his mother and put his arms around her consolingly. Irene let out a deep, shaky, breath, her face wrinkled with anxiety.
