"Kylo- Kylo wake up."

Kylo woke to Rue shaking him awake. He let out a tired groan when he opened his eyes to find daylight. Within seconds, his brain kicked itself into gear and the boy was up, alert and awake. He held his hand in front of his eyes, adjusting to the bright light that blinded him.

"R- Rue what time is it?" Kylo asked her, disoriented.

Rue had a sheepish expression fill her face. She looked away from him as she began to explain herself.

"Don't be mad... Okay?" She said, "I wanted to repay you for saving me yesterday, but the only way I could do it was by letting you sleep."

Kylo was now fully awake and aware of the situation, "Rue..." He began with a sigh.

Kylo knew he couldn't get upset at her in their situation. She was just trying to help him, but the fact of the matter stood— had something happened, not only would he have died, but Rue would have too. And that could not happen, not on his watch.

"Thank you, Rue, but we can't do that again okay? You don't owe me anything anymore." The boy tried his best to explain, "If something happens or the Careers find us, I have to be ready to fight them."

Rue had a small frown on her face, "I understand. I'm sorry."

"I'm not angry, Rue. I just want to make sure I can keep us safe."

She nodded, "Okay."

Kylo couldn't help but feel bad. He really wasn't angry, but he was somewhat upset. He knew she was only trying to help, but he couldn't shake the thought of being an in danger.

"Hey," He changed the topic, "why don't we go try to find some berries or something? Maybe we could even find a river and see if there's fish."

Rue's sad expression faded, "I can find us berries! I practiced when we were in the training center."

"Perfect." He nodded at her, "Let's go find some then."

The duo embarked on a journey through the wilderness, searching for berries and a water source. They were successful in finding berries but you could only go so long without drinking any water. Both of them felt the dehydration creeping in, their eyes sunken and exhaustion peaking.

Kylo glanced down at his wrist, the bracelet his brother gave him tight and hidden beneath his black jacket. The boy thought for a moment, looking around at their wooded surroundings.

"What would Finnick do?"

Kylo finally looked at the District Eleven girl, "Rue are you feeling strong enough to climb?"

She had an excited smile cross her face, "I am."

"Okay I need you to climb up and see if you can see any water— a lake, a river, or even a pond. Maybe even some birds? They like to stay near water sources."
