I collected the soft plushies which were on the ground and put them on the bed. Then I walked around picking different shapes of building blocks groaning when I accidentally stepped on a triangle-shaped block.
I could hear tiny giggles and two familiar voices down in the living room.
I could also hear sounds coming from the kitchen.
After clearing the room and cleaning up the mess, I sighed in relief. Then I went out of the bedroom and walked towards the living room in which I could see both the living room and the kitchen at the same time cause there wasn't a full wall separating the two parts. It was only one-fourth of the height of a wall that was between the kitchen and the living room.
To my left was the kitchen where Bright was busy making lunch, more like burning my pans. To my right was five-year-old Bubble, busy playing some unknown game with Joss and Luke.
And when I said Luke, it was the same Luke who made an appeal against Bright, the same person who confessed to trying to kill me when I was pregnant. The last fact lay between the two of us and remained a secret.
Speaking of Luke, he was still a lonely person when it came to a lover. But it surprised me how he made friends with Joss within a few weeks of time. According to them, they were too similar in personalities which I found kind of amusing.
A knock on the door got all our attention, and I walked towards it to open the door. As I opened the door, we got greeted by Hemo with a smile on her face, as expected.
I playfully rolled my eyes, welcoming her in.
Talking about Hemo, he and Joss started being somewhat of friends after I introduced them to each other after Bubble was born. Soon after~ their relationship upgraded to the level of dating. But from what I heard from Joss, Hemo was kind of scared for a committed relationship... even I didn't know what the duo was up to -_-
Hemo gave a little bag to me and quickly went to the living room as if I was invisible! Tsk, throughout the years, Bubble didn't fail to take all the attention I received for myself before.
"This sucks," I muttered as I walked to the kitchen. I kept away the bag Hemo gave to me and sulked.
"Cooking sucks as well," Bright commented with a spatula in his hands. I had no idea what the hell he was doing with a spatula when he was clearly deep-frying chicken.
"No one gives me attention. Can I get jealous of my own child?" I asked.
"Of course, Mr Attention Seeker."
"Meh. I was kidding!" I groaned.
Bright shook his head, laughing. I peeked over to see the chicken he was frying was almost black, not the recommended golden brown colour.
"Bright~ People should actually eat these... You know that, right?" I asked, trying to sound serious. But for real, I was joking about his cooking.
"Hey, of course, I know that! What is your point now??" he asked, squinting his eyes at me.
"Look. Your chicken is almost burnt." I pointed out.
Bright sighed, "I am only cooking because you cleaned the whole house during my absence. Just stop complaining and eat this when this is done." Bright said, more like ordered me.
So the next few minutes, I sat on the messy counter and watched him frying the chicken as if he was the world's best chef. He looked so adorable with that serious face and the frown!
"Oh, I almost forgot." Bright started speaking, obviously forgetting everything about frying.
"Hmm?"
"We have to buy uh... braille... yeah, those books for Bubble. Little stories. Because his teacher said they started teaching him the ABC things-"
