Stefan was lounging in one of his chairs, having dozed off after a long night. Suddenly, a whooshing sound caught his attention, stirring him from his slumber. Curiosity piqued, he got up to investigate.
As he walked through the room, the whooshing sound occurred again, this time brushing against him. "Damon?" he called out, thinking his brother was playing a prank.
The next thing he knew, Stefan was on his back with a familiar blonde face grinning down at him. "Lexi?!" he exclaimed, both surprised and delighted to see his best friend.
Lexi laughed as Stefan pulled her into a warm embrace. "Oh my God, what are you doing here?" he asked, unable to hide his excitement.
Pulling back from the hug, Lexi beamed at her friend. "Am I not allowed to be around my best friend?" she teased, her excitement mirroring Stefan's.
"Of course you are!" Stefan replied, grinning from ear to ear. "I just didn't expect to see you here. It's a pleasant surprise."
Gilbert house.
Elena sat with her diary, unable to write. A knock. Her sister Cassandra stood at the door. Elena closed her book.
Cassandra noticed Elena's dismissive gesture. "Still the silent treatment?"
Elena remained silent.
"Stefan's birthday's today. I'm taking us clubbing," Cassandra said.
Elena shook her head, implying it was irresponsible.
"Since you won't talk, I can't explain it's to help the gang relax away from Mystic Falls," Cassandra replied.
Elena pouted but conceded, "Fine. But I'm still not talking to you."
"Noted," Cassandra replied.
Boarding House.
Lexi unpacked her belongings while Stefan picked up a book he had dropped. She turned to him, "So, what do you have planned for today?"
Stefan looked puzzled. "What do you mean?"
Lexi's eyes widened in shock. "Please tell me you didn't forget your own birthday again."
Stefan tried to speak, but he was taken aback.
"Oh my God, Cassandra was right!" Lexi exclaimed. "Dude, how did you forget your own birthday?"
Stefan sighed loudly. "I didn't forget. I just didn't want to make a big deal out of it."
Lexi raised an eyebrow. "Well, it's a good thing our resident witch called and explained. She keeps me updated on your health and makes sure you're not going full Hannibal," she teased, referring to Stefan's vampire nature.
Stefan's confusion grew. "Wait, Cassie told you? And how did she know?"
"First, we have weekly chats about your health. Second, I enjoy our talks. And third, it's Cassandra—she knows things," Lexi replied, pushing him towards the shower.
