Chapter 33: Elena

With Alex watching my back, I kept swirling the ring on the hologram, searching for the right symbols for the code. "Almost there..." I selected another of the images that matched the one in my back. "Last one..."

Suddenly there was a thud. I heard Alex gasp.

Both of us whirled around to see Scourge, standing a few feet away, fighting with Optimus Prime.

"You will ever see Unicron take this world!" Prime snapped angrily, shoving Scourge to the ground.

"No!" Scourge growled. "Unicron will prevail!" he whirled his hand into a gun. To my shock, instead of aiming at Prime, he aimed at me....

There was a bright flash of light and I shut my eyes-oh boy this was not the way I had been planning on going out.

ALEX

As soon as I saw Scourge fire the canon towards Elena, my eyes widened. "Elena!"

I wanted to run forward when I was thrust back by the impact of a loud explosion.

There was a flash of light.

Then silence....

Opening my eyes I saw smoke gathered about.

"Enough!" Prime shouted from where he stood looming over Scourge. Pulling his large sword-ax up, he thrust it forward, slicing off the Terrorcons head. "Time to show you the real power of a Prime!"

I watched with wide eyes as Prime pulled Scourge's head off. Then he reached for the shoulder of Scourge and wrenched Bumblebee's stolen insignia off. "This belongs to a friend of mine!"

Scourge...he was dead.

"Finally," I exhaled in relief. The horrifying Terracon leader was dead.

My attention was grabbed when Elena gasped. I looked at her. Noah was helping her to her feet and I realized he had shoved her out of the way of the canon.

"The Panel...it's destroyed. I can't stop it!" Elena cried out in horror.

"Autobots, Maximals-retreat to safety," Optimus Prime straightened to his full height as he slung his sword back over his shoulder. "I will destroy the key myself."

RAY

As soon as I registered Prime's words, I gasped. He was going to sacrifice himself for us.

"Prime, no!" Arcee protested, shaking her head in dismay. "You can't."

"There's got to be another way," Noah put in, anxiously.

Optimus Primal bowed his head gravely. "Your sacrifice becomes our oath."

"Thank you my friend," Optimus Prime humbly lowered his own head in gratitude. Then he turned away from us.

Optimus!" I climbed up onto the platform and made my way over to him. Tears filled my eyes. "Please, don't do this-you'll die."

"Ray Lark," he bent down to my height. It was as though all time had stopped. "You have shown me what it means to be a true leader-true leader's make sacrifices."

He straightened up and looked at Bumblebee. "Bee, protect them." Turning away he began to head towards the portal.

"No!" I cried out, running towards the Prime.

Bee reached forward and his hand curled around me. Gently he picked me up, beeping an apology as he whirled into a car. Elena and Alex climbed in, and the autobot began driving away from the portal as fast as he could.

The tears fell from my eyes as I stared in the rearview mirror. Optimus-he was about to die...after everything...first Airazor, now Optimus. I could not bear another loss of a friend.

AMY

From where Stratosphere and I stood patiently atop a rock near the edge of the battlefield, we watched the battle end. I winced a bit as Optimus pulled Scourge's head off, but I was relieved at the same time. The tyrant-Airazor's murderer- was gone-for good.

I watched as bumblebee, arcee, Wheelack and the Maximals began making their way up the hill towards us.

Hastily I hoped down to greet them. "You did it!" I exclaim joyfully. "Scourge is gone!"

The autobots all whipped up into their robot forms-they were silent-almost grave and I was filled with a sense of dread. "Wh...what happened?"

Bumblebee was the last to transform. He set Ray on the ground and she ran up to me tearfully. "Optimus Prime," she sobbed. "He's sacrificing himself to destroy the portal and save us."

My eyes widened, "what?"

"It's true," Elena said softly as she and Alex walked up to me. Alex put his hand on my shoulder as I shook my head. I felt as though the world were shaking-Optimus Prime, leader of the autobots-was about to die. "No, he...he can't..."

"He is," Primal spoke gently to me. "His sacrifice became our oath-just like my father's. '' he pushed his fist into the ground causing a large vibration. "We shall not forget this day-he will be honored..."

NOAH

I hopped on Bee as he drove away from the portal. But at the last minute, I glanced back to see Optimus Prime near the portal with the glowing transwarp key, his sword in hand. The last of the Predacon warriors began charging towards him.

I could not leave him-I had to help him. We were supposed to fight as one-a team.

My mind was made up.

I jumped off Bubble and ran over towards Prime. I was just in time to hear a deep voice resonate from the opening of the portal-Unicron.

"Don't Prime. I can give you everything you want," the voice had an eerie smoothness to it-yet was terrifying to the very core.

Optimus Prime did not so much as hesitate. "Than die!" he growled and thrust his sword down into the opening of the portal where the transwarp key lay elevated.

Gritting my teeth I planted my metal hand into the deck as the impact of the explosion knocked everything forwards.Optimus hit the ground with a thud in front of me.

All the loose debri began to be sucked into the portal opening-up towards Unicorn-including Optimus. He scratched his sword down into the metal floor but it slid across uselessly.

"No!" I reached up and grabbed Prime before he could be lifted up into the air. Keeping my metal booted-feet planted on the ground, I held tightly to him.

"Let me go, Noah!" Optimus grunted. "Save yourself!"

"Till...all are one," I grunted, planting my feet harder into the ground. Slowly I turned and began walking away from the vacuum whole Unicron was sucking everything into-one step–then another–then another..

Suddenly a strange gust of wind pulled at us and I felt my feet begin to slide-then I was kicked completely off the ground. "No-" I was cut off mid shout when suddenly a larger metal hand grabbed onto mine.

Looking through my helmeted mask I was shocked to see-Optimus Primal.

He threw us forward away from the portal. Optimus transformed into his truck mode and I landed on the back part of his empty trailer. We drove away from Unicron as fast as wwe could, Primal swinging by pieces of the bridge in front of us.

Glancing back I watched as the vacuum hole disappeared in the sky-showing Unicron's disappearance.

"Yeah baby!" Looking forward, I screamed with joy as we bumped along. We had done it! Earth was safe!
