AN: hey guys, i'm back and better than ever (the biggest lie i ever said). a lot has happened since i've been gone. it's been six months just about. good golly.
HAPPY PRIDE MONTH
anyway, here's part 6. much awaited. i apologize for taking so long and for this not being the best thing I've ever published.
warnings: mentions of drinking (none of the main characters though), swearing, and a very VERY quick fight.
Brynne's voice cut through Aru's thoughts.
"Look, I just want you guys to like her. She's really nice, I swear. And she's nervous about meeting you two, so I need you both to be normal, not creepy, and kind to her."
"When are we not kind?" Aru asked, scrunching up her face and scratching her nose.
"When you send me Justin Bieber memes after I tell you not to."
Aru smiled to herself. "I don't exactly remember doing that..."
"Don't lie to yourself. You send those all the time," Mini said, walking into the room.
She wore a white shirt, a dark red cardigan, and jeans.
"Mini, you look so nice," Aru announced.
"Thanks! But seriously, you send the Justin Bieber memes all the time."
"Whatever."
"Look, I will start the mac and cheese for an early dinner. Mini, you look great. Shah, get ready, would ya?"
"I will, oh my gods," Aru groaned. Her head lolled to the side and sighed.
—
Aru looked in the mirror and pulled at the bottom of her grey hoodie.
"Aru, you look fine. Stop fussing," Mini smiled.
"Yeah..."
She did one final tug of her hoodie over her baggy jeans and turned away from the mirror.
"Okay, you two. I made food for a little picnic-like thing at the bonfire. Do not invite other people over. I made it, I'm not feeding people I don't know. Now, I made mac and cheese and a big fruit bowl. I ordered a couple of pizzas; don't share those with anyone. I also have Hira grabbing some bags of chips," Brynne announced as she started loading stuff into her bag and glared at Mini.
"What?" Mini asked, shrinking into her cardigan.
"When I say, 'invite no one,' I'm talking to you."
"What?! I don't even talk to people!"
"You see a guy walking around looking like a lost puppy and you're immediately inviting him over for a snack. Suddenly, all of our snacks are gone."
Mini rolled her eyes. "I would not." She stayed silent for a minute. "It was one time," she mumbled.
Aru laughed to herself and tugged a black hoodie over her hair.
"Some more ground rules, no going home with strangers or anyone if the other two don't know. Don't drink, please. I mean, do what you want. I will be sober all night, so I will be your safe ride home. Also, no letting anyone take our food unless you plan on making them a part of this friend group," Brynne started listing.
(do not drink and drive. do not illegally drink. don't do drugs)
"Yeah, we know," Aru groaned. "Feel free to stop anytime."
