...
It was supposed to be just another ordinary evening. Classes had wrapped up, and most students had retreated to their dorms, settling in for a quiet night. Well, everyone except for one. And if you’ve been paying attention, you know who that is. But tonight was different, with a certain twist to the routine.
"Alright, Morales... let's begin, shall we?" said the (h.name)-haired girl as she gracefully lowered herself onto the pillow-covered floor of Miles' dorm room.
Finally! After what felt like an eternity of anticipation, a whole 24 hours of restless waiting, the moment had arrived—Miles and (Y.name) were about to start their first study session together.
The setting was cozy, though perhaps a bit unconventional. The two of them were alone in Miles' dorm room, which, on the surface, might seem suspicious to some. But there was nothing to worry about—everything was perfectly innocent. After all, they had permission from their homeroom teacher, who trusted (Y.name) implicitly. Being the teacher's pet had its perks, and one of those was being trusted without question.
They had arranged the pillows on the floor, creating a comfortable space where they could sit and study together, given that the desk was too small to share. Soft music played from Miles' Bluetooth speaker, adding a soothing ambiance to the room.
"So, which area are you struggling with? Let's crush it completely before we dive into the serious stuff," (Y.name) asked, her tone focused and ready to tackle whatever challenge lay ahead.
Miles didn't need to think twice. "Algebra. I suck at it so much, you wouldn’t believe the scores I get on my tests," he said, trying to inject some humor into his confession. But the joke fell flat, as (Y.name) didn’t even seem to register it. She simply nodded and flipped open her textbook to the appropriate section.
Miles sighed inwardly, knowing better than to expect a reaction. He was used to this by now, so there was no point in dwelling on it. After all, they were here to study, not to exchange jokes.
"Alright, let's start with a simple equation. You see, here you—"
But once again, as soon as she started explaining, Miles found himself zoning out. How could he focus when he was in such a surreal situation—alone in his room with his crush? This was the stuff of daydreams, the kind of moment he’d wished for but never actually thought would happen. A small smile crept onto his face as he imagined what other dreams might come true.
"—ales? Morales, are you listening?"
"What—? Oh, yeah! Yeah, I'm listening," he said, quickly flashing a sweet smile, but (Y.name) wasn’t buying it.
"Okay. Do this equation then, if you were really listening," she challenged, crossing her arms and raising an eyebrow.
Miles' smile faltered as he glanced at the equation she pointed to. "This is simple?" he asked, his voice tinged with disbelief.
(Y.name) chuckled softly. "It should be, since I taught you and you were paying attention," she teased. "I’ll give you five minutes to figure it out. If you’re not done by then..." She shrugged, leaving the threat hanging in the air.
Four minutes passed, and Miles was still staring at the problem, his mind a jumble of numbers and confusion. Finally, with just thirty seconds left on the clock, he picked up his pencil and frantically began scribbling down his calculations. Meanwhile, (Y.name) counted down the final moments.
"Five... four... three... two... one..."
"Happy New Year?" Miles quipped, trying to lighten the mood, only to be met with a soft pillow smacking him in the face.
"No, you idiot! It means time's up—you lost," (Y.name) said, a victorious smirk playing on her lips as she crossed her arms again, clearly enjoying the upper hand.
But her triumph was short-lived. With a mischievous grin, Miles grabbed another pillow and retaliated, hitting her squarely in the side. "Hey! What the—" she began, only to be interrupted by Miles’ quick reply.
"It’s only fair," he said, his voice filled with mock seriousness.
(Y.name) narrowed her eyes, gripping her pillow tightly. "Alright then... you asked for this, Morales."
PILLOW FIGHT!!
The two teens quickly grabbed more pillows, launching into an all-out battle, their study session completely forgotten. Laughter filled the room as they swung and dodged, their competitive spirits flaring up with every hit.
(Y.name) managed to land a particularly strong blow, catching Miles off guard and making him yelp in surprise. She burst into laughter at his reaction, but her triumph was again short-lived as Miles gave her a sly smile and suddenly lunged at her, wrapping his arms around her waist and pinning her to the ground.
"Not so powerful now, are we?" Miles smirked down at her, his voice playful as he held her in place.
(Y.name) was taken aback for a moment, but then she smiled right back, rolling her eyes playfully. In a swift move, she wrapped her arms around his neck and flipped him over, reversing their positions so that she was on top.
"How about now?" she teased, her (e.colour) eyes sparkling with mischief as she gazed down at him.
They both grinned like idiots, their laughter slowly fading as they locked eyes. The playful energy between them shifted, becoming something more intense and charged. (Y.name) felt a warm blush spread across her cheeks as she looked at Miles, taking in every detail.
His warm brown eyes reminded her of the soft hues of the sunset, a perfect blend of warmth and depth that made her feel at ease. She noticed the sharp line of his jaw, strong and defined, like it had been carved by an artist’s hand. And then there were his lips—soft, inviting, and so close. The urge to lean in and close the gap between them grew stronger with every passing second.
Miles seemed to be feeling the same pull. Neither of them broke eye contact as they slowly, almost unconsciously, began to lean in. The air around them felt electric, the tension thick as they moved closer and closer, their faces now just inches apart.
Their eyes half-lidded, they leaned in further, their lips brushing ever so slightly against each other. It was the barest of touches, but it sent a shockwave through both of them.
Just as they were about to close the distance completely, the door suddenly swung open.
"Hey, Miles. You still have those—"
Miles' roommate, Ganke, froze in the doorway, his eyes widening in shock as he took in the scene before him. There on the floor was Miles, holding (Y.name) by the waist, with her arms wrapped around his neck. The two of them were mere millimeters apart, clearly caught in an intimate moment.
"Uhh..." Ganke stammered, unsure of what to do or say.
(Y.name) and Miles quickly scrambled to their feet, the spell between them broken. They awkwardly put some distance between themselves, both of them blushing furiously.
(Y.name) cleared her throat, forcing a strained smile as she addressed Ganke. "Ganke! Hey... I was just about to leave. Well, that was our first session, Morales. See you tomorrow!" she said, her voice hurried and a bit higher-pitched than usual. It was a blatant lie—they still had fourteen minutes left.
She hastily gathered her things and bolted for the door, practically fleeing the room. Ganke watched her rush past before turning to face Miles, who was still sitting on the floor, looking a bit dazed.
"We’re twenty minutes past our finishing time," Miles added weakly, trying to cover up the awkwardness of the situation.
Ganke, still shocked but not particularly interested in delving into whatever had just happened, simply shrugged it off. Without a word, he walked over to his bed, sat down, and pulled out his phone, focusing on the screen as if to erase the last few minutes from his memory.
