Lay It On Me

"Hey Lou?" Natalie asks as they wind down for the night in their bed. 

"Yeah honey?" He asks, carding his fingers gently through her hair. 

"What do we do once tour ends?" She asks, with an uneven voice. They never made a plan for what's going to happen after this is done. She's not even sure where she's going to live, if she'll go back home or find someplace new for herself. 

"I've um, never thought about that." He says and scratches the back of his neck. 

"Yeah me neither. How did we never think about this? Oh my gosh," she laughs nervously. 

"Wow, okay. Everything's going to be fine love," he soothes. 

"Louis, you live in London and I live in California." She points out. 

"I do know that, wanna draw me a map?" He sasses, but quickly stops himself. "Sorry." 

She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. "I mean there's definitely a few options."

"Yeah of course," he agrees. 

And yet, despite that fact, neither of them seem to have any good suggestions come to mind. 

"Can I ask? Like would you move to London?" He asks cautiously. 

A million thoughts and question are running through her mind right now, she settles on one for now. "Like live with you or move there and live by myself or something?" 

"Either, but there's for sure one I'd rather," he shrugs shyly, seeming to only now just realize what he said. 

"Are you asking me to move in with you?" She teases.

"Already live together don't we?" He whines, his cheeks flushing cutely. 

And yeah, that is true, they have been basically living together for months now. This is bigger though, it wouldn't be out of convenience or somewhat force anymore. This is a deliberate choice. 

"Yeah I guess, but I mean it's different. When like you choose to live with someone and its only the two of you. You know?" She tries to explain. 

"Bad different?" He asks, almost defensively. 

It brings her back to when they first got together, he asked her almost the exact same question, but for a completely different reason. 

"We wouldn't know it til we're there would we?" And its not the best answer she can give and truthfully she's not proud of it, but isn't that how it goes? 

There are a lot of problems you don't anticipate. You can be in love and things can seem to be going really well and then something comes up and things change. Her mind is spiraling. 

"Do you think it would be bad?" Louis rephrases, eyebrows furrowing. 

She takes some deep breathes to calm down. "No, can't imagine it would be, but its a big step regardless. I haven't even met your family, or your friends." She points out. 

"Does that matter?" He says back almost defensively. 

"Lou, baby." She sighs. "I don't mean to say you can't ask questions," she trails off not knowing what else to say, but she's overwhelmed.  

"No, sorry I just-" he starts to apologize. 

"You don't have to be sorry, just. I don't know, hear me out I guess?" She asks, uncertain of what she even wants to say. How has she not thought of this before?
