"Should I give up?
Or should I just keep chasing pavements?
Even if it leads nowhere
Or would it be a waste?
Even If I knew my place, should I leave it there?
Should I give up?
Or should I just keep chasing pavements?
Even if it leads nowhere"

Fourth of July was probably Madeline's favorite part about coming to cousins. It was the day the family was truly together. The husbands would join their wives and children to barbecue and just hang out. Maddie was still looking forward to it but this year was obviously different. Her dad wouldn't come and they wouldn't be working on the jeep together.

Maddie laid in bed not wanting to get up. She had heard about Taylor kissing Steven at the party after her and Mason left which left made things awkward between the two boys. Maddie hadn't spoken to Jeremiah and was nervous to say the least.

Maddie heard a knock on the door and just covered her face with a pillow not wanting to talk to anyone. Conrad opened the door knowing she was hiding and made a loud sigh.

"Well, I guess if Jessie isn't here I can give this blueberry muffin to someone else"

That grabbed the Wilson's girl attention making her sit up. Conrad smiled and sat next to her. He also gave her a cup of coffee.

"So I heard about what happened last night"

"Jeremiah told you?"

"Yeah"

"Does he remember?"

"He does, he's hiding in his room like you are"

"God this is embarrassing"

"No it's not."

"I have to tell Dawson"

"You don't have to, Jere kissed you not the other way around. You didn't cheat"

"Then why do I feel like I did?"

"Because you have a conscience."

"I hate it sometimes"
