Shay's POV

After the finals, I've gone back to Borders to work and yeah, it's been awhile I talked to my co-workers cause I have been so busy, squeezing my study time within my working hours and even ask for leave days. I am really serious about studying, if you don't work hard, you go home. That's what I always say, but I make sure everything at the store is in tiptop shape, I constantly call Ruby and ask how things are, and right now I'm on my way to Borders with two coffees in my hand, hoping to catch up with my only friend here in LA. It's my day off, and since Tommy is at school, I figure I could explain some stuffs to Ruby.

I walk in Borders and I greet everyone and from my view, I see Ruby checking the inventory in the Mystery section. I walk up to her, and put a big smile on my face, "hi, stranger".

She puts her head up and look at me, gratefully with a smile, "well hello, yourself".

I give her the coffee in my hand, "this is for you, I figure that you had a tiring encounter last night, because of ladies night", she giggled, "you know me so well, and yes, an Irish encounter and let's just say, I was lucky with his clover".

I miss her jokes and seeing her up and running feels good, "let's sit on these beanbags, no ones sitting on them anyway", I motion her to the beanbags at the kids section and we rest our bottocks on it.

"So, what's up with you? You have been a busy bee, aren't you? You never called me for babysitting anymore, I almost come to think that Tommy dislikes me or something?", she said and I shake my head.

"No, Tommy adores you but he's been spending time with his...dad", I blurt it out slowly.

"That's great, I'm happy for Tommy. How about you and that classmate of yours?", She asked me and I do update her on occasions, only the happy ones. I'm not the type of person who calls her friends when I'm in distraught, I like to keep the disturbing moments in my life to myself.

My fingers starts to fiddle around the cup of coffee, "err, it didn't work out", she instantly reach for my hand, "it's alright, Shay. Who knows how love and relationship works. Look at me for instance, been looking from the tallest building to underground clubs, na-da. Nothing sticks", she said and I do not know whether I should tell her that I'm back with Calum, but she didn't even know that Calum is Tommy's father.

"Ruby", I call her out while she sips on her coffee.

"I got back together with Tommy's father", she holds her mouth trying not to spit out the coffee and before she asks who or any other details, I decided to drop another bomb. "And yes, the guy that came here to see me a few months ago is the dad". Now she's putting her hand on the chest, looking surprised and looks at me angrily, maybe? I couldn't make anything out of her face right now.

"You are meaning to say, that Calum Hood is your baby daddy?", she points her finger towards my direction like she's going to poke my eyes with it. "Err, boyfriend now". I feel kind of proud to say that, it feels right.

"Girl! I didn't know that you're into rockstars and music junkie!", she hit my thigh and I feel a slight heat sensation from it. I grin and chuckle, "yeah, me neither".
