Shay's POV

I'm grabbing my bag and Tommy's coat and put it on him, and when I reach for my keys, my phone rings so I use my free hand to dig into my bag which is like a maze looking for my phone, and as I can feel the structure of my phone, I pull it out and answer the call without knowing who's calling.

"Hello", I pant.

I couldn't hear who is at the other line cause Tommy was shouting as we were leaving the door, "mummy, wait! I forgot something!". I wait for my son right outside the door and ask who was on the other line, then a recognizable british accent hit my eardrums.

"It's Will. Where are you? You stuck in traffic?"

"Oh no, we were just leaving. I was doing chores and didn't look at the time, I'll drop Tommy at his friend's and I'll go straight to the restaurant", as Tommy walks out of the door, I closed it and lock it and made our way to the car.

"I told you that I could pick you guys up and drop him off together and go straight to the restaurant, love", he did offered and I asked Tommy whether if that's okay but it seems he still has the cold shoulder towards Will. I can't blame him, he's a kid and this is the first time his mother is going steady with a man and it's the same time when his dad entered his life, so it's a lot for him to handle and listening to him is a way for me to tell him that no matter who I'm with, he will always be my number one priority. Always.

"I know I know, but Tommy's stuffs is already inside my car so it's easier just to use my car", I tried to lie .

"Fine then, I'll see you in half an hour?"

"25 minutes, tops", I told him and we bid goodbye and I have find myself already in the car and Tommy on the passenger seat, without his car seat. Calum has trained him not to use the car seat and he seems to be okay without it, I still feel kind of bad cause he couldn't reach the window to see outside but Calum told me that he'll grow, let him see the world from below. Sounds silly but it made sense somehow. I look over and smile at him, "you ready, baby?"

He looks back at me and smile with those adorable teeth, "yes mummy. May I put on daddy's album, please?". I start the ignition and said, "sure".

He slide the CD into the player and the fast number tracks blasting out through the speakers, and I chuckle to myself, thinking how could a big nerd like me fall head over heals for the it guy?

"Mummy", suddenly my son speaks up, "yes baby?"

"Mummy, I want to know something",

"What would you like to know, Tommy?"

He puts his hands together, and I can feel that this particular question has been bothering him for quite awhile now. He even seem scared to ask, then I lift my left hand from the steering wheel and touch his chubby hands.

"Its okay baby, what is it?"

He holds my hand tight and without looking at me, he asks, "where was daddy when I was born?"

God, has he been thinking about this? Why does he have to clutter his mind with this?

"Does it even matter baby? He's here with you, right now. That's what matters the most, he found you and he is not gonna go anywhere", I told him, trying to dodge from telling that it was my fault that Calum wasn't around when he was born.
