The rest of the day was a mind numbing jumble as I tried anything I could to keep my mind off him. I had already texted him to apologize for leaving so abruptly but he hadn't even opened it by the time school was over. My brother planned on hanging out with the bnb this afternoon so he would be riding home with us to drop me off at home and honestly I was worried what was going to happen.
I walked out of my class when the bell rang and looked for my brother while making my way to the front doors. Sighing in defeat as I reached the doors I headed to where my brother had parked that morning but he wasn't there. I looked around for a minute before calling my brother to find out where he was.
"Wussup sis?" My brother said answering on the third ring.
"Where ya at dude?" I asked a little annoyed by the heat in combination with the black hoodie and leggings I'd worn.
"Chill we're on the way." He said without a care in the world.
"We? And why weren't you here in the first place? School just let out!" I snapped getting upset.
"Obviously we were skipping dumbass." A deep voice I'd etched into my memory said flatly.
"Oh..." I said my voice faltering at the coldness in his before continuing with "just hurry I guess... Its hot asf out here." I said ending the call.
After a few seconds I texted my brother to text me when he got there and went to sit under a tree. Skipping on the first day? I questioned myself as I sat there humming to the music from my headphones. What reason would they skip today? The classes had no actual learning for me at least... My thoughts trailed off as I felt my phone vibrate.

OK otwI quickly grabbed my things and ran all the way to the furthest corner of the parking lot quickly spotting my brothers awful death trap parked haphazardly. As I neared about 20 feet away I could already tell what some they where listening to due to their music being even louder than my headphones. I slowed a little as I got close so that I could turn off and put up my headphones while walking. I also took this time to secretly look into the passenger window at the bnb through my fringe.
I opened the door to the car and half screamed a simple greeting to them each as I threw my bag in then slid myself in closing the door. My brother peeled out of the parking lot and returned my greeting before turning up the music even more singing along. I glanced at the bnb in the mirror to see if he was looking but he was glued to his phone. Thinking back he didnt acknowledge me at all when I had greeted him either.
After starring at into the mirror moment longer, hoping he would look up, I gave up burying myself in the book I had already borrowed from my English teacher. I honestly didnt know what to do and I didnt think now was really the time to approach him about it. Shoving my headphones back on and turning them all the way up to drown out the world as I read. A few times I would think I felt some one looking at me but every time I looked up the bnb was still on his phone and my brother was actually being a safeish driver and keeping his eyes on the road.
When we reached the apartment I got out first and went straight inside to my room and started on my "getting to know you" homework from each class. It was honestly really stupid but the teachers said it was so that we would get used to constant home work easier. As I looked through the questions on each classes page I realized that my first homework assignments actually were hard because I had no idea how to talk about myself when prompted. I couldn't even answer a question as easy as "what's your favorite color?" without extreme hesitation and indecisiveness getting in the way. Some of these questions expected me to talk about my dreams for the future or what type of learning I think works best for me! Groaning I accepted my fate and hunkered down on my bed with my lap desk.
Yeeeesh talk about cold front 🥶 Do you berries think he's gonna keep this up? Would you have know what to do in this situation at 14?
Till next time loves,
Peace✌🤙
