me and my older sister alessia were getting ready for FIFA's the best awards, i was actually really excited. we each get to go to events seperately but never together so when lessie asked me if i wanted to go, of course i jumped at the chance. i had just finished doing my hair and makeup but luckily had 30 minutes until we were getting picked up so i shouted up to my sister to make sure she was ready. "LESS? WE HAVE LIKE HALF AN HOUR, YOU NEARLY READY?" when she didn't reply, i was about to shout again until she walked downstairs in the most beautiful black dress, "yes dan, i just need to do my hair, god you're not even dressed yet" she said chuckling
"lessie, you look stunning" i said standing up to give her a hug, "thank you, you look gorgeous dani, but you need to get changed babe" she replied, "i know, i know, i'm going" i say going upstairs. i was wearing an orange silk dress from nasty gal and i loved it. i went downstairs to get some pictures with alessia. we quickly had a couple shots to calm our nerves before getting in our taxi and making our way to the awards. i posted a picture while on the way because we all knew i was gonna be too out of it to do it later.

we got to the awards and i had to take some pictures on the red carpet which was my favourite part of events, i also got to see some of lessie's teammates that i haven't seen in ages. after posing for the press and taking some nice pictures, we went inside for the actual award ceremony. we were sat on a table with ella and her boyfriend joe, as well as jude and his best friend toby. it was nice to be on a table with people i knew though because i felt comfortable and my anxiety wasn't as prominant. we had all had a little bit to drink but were keeping composure until the after party because we knew that paps were going to be outside waiting and none of us wanted to be on the front of 'the sun' tomorrow morning looking off our faces.
we talked for a little bit longer until the ceremony started. sarina won "the best womans coach" and we were all so proud of her. i know i'm not a part of the team but from as long as i can remember, i have been watching lessies trainings and if sarina needed and extra person for a group exercise, i would step in. growing up with 3 siblings who are obsessed with fotball, you get quite good quite quickly. she sort of felt like my coach as well. then we found out that mary won "the best womans goalkeeper" and again we were cheering and screaming. we were so happy for her and proud. alessia was actually nominated for "the best Puskas award" she didn't win but i was so proud of her. she applauded and cheered for the winner the same way she did for everyone else and as our mum has always said "getting selected is just as big of an achievement as winning".
after the ceremony, the food was brought out. it was some sort of seafood dish, it actually looked lovely. but at this point, me, jude and toby were the only people who weren't pretty much plastered. it got so bad i had to feed less. me, jude and toby were pissing ourselves. we had finished the dinner and it was time to leave. everyone except ella and joe wanted to go to the afterparty so we got leah to take them home. we tried to convince lessie to get a cab and go home but she wasn't having any of it so we had to bring her with us.
we called an uber and while we waited, me and jude were talking about madelyn's birthday in a few weeks. not many expected us three to be such close friends but we all grew up together. mine, jude and maddie's mums are all really close and always have been. they met in college and have been best friends ever since. one summer, denise and my mum decided to go and suprise pam and stay in charleston for the summer and obviously had to bring their families with them.
me, maddie and jude were the closest in age, so we very quickly became a little trio and have been ever since. me and jude see eachother alot and even though i facetime maddie daily, i do really miss her. her 23rd birthday was coming up, so we were planning to surprise her in about 2 months. i know thats ages away but a big surprise like this is hard to pull off. ive been in contact with the cast of her new show, and have been helping them plan a surprise birthday party for her. but i honestly just cannot wait to see her.
we all got into the uber and the uber driver was lovely. as soon as we got into the car, he let toby bluetooth to car play and we were singing our hearts out to whitney houston. after about 20 minutes of screaming to queen whit, we had arrived at the after party, it was already quite busy with footballers literally everywhere. i felt quite out of place but i had lessie. we walked over to where all the drinks were because i knew i'd need it tonight dealing with a pissed alessia and we walked back over to where some of the lionesses were. i had a weird gut feeeling that something important was gonna happen tonight, i didn't know why. so while everyone was talking, i was preparing myself for what was to come.
