9 - colouring

i can't believe i'm about to do this, yet here i am stood next to my new boyfriend and the father of my child, on the doorstep of his family home, and he's about to knock on the door. i'm terrified but also excited, mase told me that his whole family will be there, his mum and dad, his brother as well as his sister, her husband and their daughter, summer. my hands were shaking and i know mase could tell so he took and held it then lifted it up and kissed it, rubbing his thumb up and down to try and help me be calm. i took a deep breath and he knocked on the door.

a woman with curly blonde hair opened the door and smiled widely, "heya mum" mase said to her giving her a hug and kissing her cheek, "oh my goodness mason, she is gorgeous, how did you do that!" she said pulling me into a hug, "thanks you mrs mount, you're just as stunning" i replied, "oh danielle, you're such a charmer! please just call me debbie!" she said, we both chuckled, "come, meet the rest of the family!" she said grabbing my hand and pulling me toward the kitchen.

the rest of the family was in the kitchen and when we walked in they all turned to look at me, i felt tense but that feeling began to go away when a really pretty girl with wavy brown hair walked up to me, "hi, you must be dani, i'm jas" she said, "hiya, it's so lovely to meet you!" i replied and she pulled me into a hug, "this is my husband sam" she said and i shook his hand, "hiya" i said. then the boy next to him spoke up, "i'm lewis, its nice to meet you dani" he said, "it's nice to meet you too, ive heard so many things about you all!" i said talking to everyone, "all good things i hope!" masons dad said, "of course, all good things! i'm dani" i replied, "i'm tony, its lovely to meet you! im glad masons finally got someone to keep him in line!" he said ad we all laughed.

we were all laughing and making small talk when the cutest little girl walked in, "UNCLE MASEY!" she shouted as she ran to mase, "SUMMER!" he shouted back and picked her up. my smile grew, soon we were gonna have a baby of our own and hopefully this would be like his relationship with our child. "who's the pretty lady, uncle masey?" i heard her say which made me blush, "that my girlfriend, she's very pretty isn't she" mase said which made me blush even more.

the little girl walked over to me and pulled on my jumper sleeve lightly. i crouched down so i could be her height, "hi i'm summer" she said, "hi summer, i'm dani" i replied, "you're pretty" she said to me, "you are so pretty!" i said and she giggled, "will you come do colouring with me?" she asked me, "of course i will!" i replied, she took me by the hand and led me to a small table, with lots of colouring pages and container of colouring pencils. she sat down on my lap and we decided on a picture of two princesses because apparently we are both princesses. awe!

about 15 minutes later, she started getting tired and sunggled into my chest, "i'm tired auntie dani" she said and my heart melted. i picked her up and we went back into the kitchen. all of the boys were in the living room watching the football so it was just jas and debbie in there. "someone got tired so we came to find mummy" i said to jas talking about summer, "oh thank you for colouring with her" jas said, "it's my pleasure" i replied, summer fell asleep in my arms so we just had a good catch-up, i told them about how me and mase met, jude and alessia and answered any questions they had about the baby, they told me about stacey and her family, masons older sister that lives in australia, and what mase was like as a child.

"speak of the devil" debbie said as mase walked into the kitchen and me and jas laughed, "are you okay to be holding her?" he asked concerned, "yea? why?" i replied, "i read somewhere that you shouldn't carry heavy things. it's bad for the baby or something?" he said and i chuckled. "i'm fine babe, don't worry about it" i said smiling, thinking about how lucky i was to have found mase. "as long as you're sure" he said and i put my head on his shoulder whilst debbie was telling everyone the gossip about big fat sue down the road. (praying you got the gavin and stacey reference)

we'd eaten dinner and i was stood in the kitchen doing the washing up. "you don't need to do that" i heard jas say from behind me, "i can't lie, i just wanted to make a good impression" i said chuckling, "well you definitely did that, when you went and coloured with summer, everyone was telling mase how much they liked you, especially mum, and maybe me aswell" she told me, "really?" i asked, "really." she replied, "and if you ever need any baby advice or just an hour away from mase, i'm here" she said, "thank you jas, i really appricate it" i said and pulled her into a hug.
