Yoojin stood outside Headmistress Harley’s office, gripping the Sorcereye tightly in her hands.
It had been a gift from the school itself—an award for her constant dedication and service as an elite head student. She used to feel proud of it. Now, she was bringing it in as a shield.
She had known this moment would come. Ever since the Moonlight Incident, the air had been thick with tension. And Yoojin wasn’t going to walk into the lion’s den without a weapon.
Taking a steady breath, she knocked.
“Enter.”
She stepped inside. The heavy doors closed behind her with a loud thud.
Harley sat at her large desk, sharp eyes fixed on Yoojin the second she entered. There was no warmth in that look—only judgment.
“You know why you’re here.”
Yoojin nodded, keeping her voice steady. “Yes, Headmistress.”
Harley didn’t waste a second. “Because of your behavior during the Moonlight Incident, you will repeat your final year at Sylvania.”
Yoojin’s stomach dropped.
“Your parents will be informed. And you’re no longer allowed to visit the village. Not for any reason.”
Yoojin’s heart thudded painfully in her chest. Every escape she had left—gone.
But Harley wasn’t finished.
“The money saved from your cancelled trips will be redirected. It will fund Chaeng Kim’s healthcare and village visits. Consider it compensation. For your recklessness.”
That last part made something crack inside Yoojin. Her hands shook slightly, but she forced herself to breathe.
“Please, Headmistress,” she said quickly, stepping closer. “Don’t do this. Not another year. Not the village too. My parents will—” She stopped herself before the panic could take over. “There has to be another way.”
Harley raised a brow. “There isn’t. You made choices. Now you live with them.”
Yoojin clenched her fists. It was now or never.
“I’ll make a deal with you,” she said, voice firmer now. “If I show you something important—something you need to see—will you promise not to expel me? Or add anything worse to my punishment?”
Harley’s eyes narrowed. “You’re not in a position to bargain.”
“I know. But this matters. You’ll want to see it.” Yoojin lifted the Sorcereye, gently placing it on the velvet cushion in front of Harley. “If I show you, I want your word, headmistress. No expulsion. No permanent mark on my record.”
A long silence followed. Then, to Yoojin’s surprise, Harley leaned back in her chair.
“Show me.”
Yoojin tried not to look too relieved. She ran her fingers lightly across the Sorcereye. It buzzed to life, the air shimmering like water before a memory appeared above them.
A moonlit garden on the terrace. Two students. Standing too close.
Jungkook.
Chaeng.
The memory played clearly—the late-night meeting, the tension in the air, the quiet closeness between them.
Yoojin didn’t speak.
She didn’t have to.
Harley’s eyes darkened as she stared at her grandson in the vision.
The flames in the fireplace flared violently, casting the room in flickering shadows.
