The dance hall was buzzing with music, fading conversations, and the occasional laughter of students still enjoying the moment.
In the middle of the polished wooden floor, Jungkook and Yoojin sat together, their backs resting against the stage steps, catching their breath after their dance.
Across the room, Chaeng and Jaemin stood near the refreshments table, half-watching, half-pretending not to care.
Jaemin leaned in slightly, eyes narrowing at Yoojin as he took a slow sip of his drink. "She’s really something, huh?" he muttered under his breath.
Chaeng didn’t respond immediately, eyes locked on the way Yoojin smiled too sweetly at Jungkook, hand lightly resting on his arm. Something about the scene made her stomach turn.
"She acts like she owns him." Jaemin scoffed, rolling his eyes.
Chaeng let out a dry chuckle. "Well, maybe she does." Her voice was laced with something bitter, something she wasn’t proud of.
Jaemin turned his head to look at her. "And you’re just gonna let that happen?"
Chaeng exhaled sharply, tearing her gaze away. "It’s not my problem."
Jaemin gave her a knowing look. "Right. And that’s why you’re burning a hole through them with your eyes right now."
Meanwhile, on the other side of the room—
Yoojin smiled as she nudged Jungkook lightly. "You never told me what all you did in Sylvania Village."
Jungkook stiffened almost imperceptibly, but Chaeng caught it. She noticed the slight way his shoulders tensed before he forced himself to relax.
"Nothing much." He shrugged, looking ahead instead of at her. "Just walked around, visited some shops, ate food. You know, the usual."
Chaeng clenched her jaw. Liar.
Yoojin tilted her head, pretending to pout. "Did you buy me anything?"
Jungkook hesitated. Chaeng knew he had bought something. But not for Yoojin.
"I… didn’t have time." He lied again.
Jaemin huffed beside Chaeng. "Wow, she’s got him on a leash." He shot Chaeng a side glance. "Bet he didn’t tell her about the ‘soulmates’ thing in the teahouse, huh?"
Chaeng’s fingers curled around her drink, grip tightening.
Jaemin grinned. "I’d pay to see her face if she found out."
Chaeng scoffed, but deep down, she was thinking the same thing.
Rosé clapped her hands together in the middle of the room, gathering everyone’s attention.
"Alright, guys! That’s enough for today. Let’s pack up," she announced, her voice carrying through the large hall. "I hope everyone’s prepared for the final day. All the best to each of you!"
A wave of movement followed as students began collecting their belongings, chatting amongst themselves as they made their way out.
Chaeng grabbed her jacket, eyes flickering to Jungkook and Yoojin, who were still sitting together. Yoojin looked perfectly content, fingers lightly playing with the hem of Jungkook’s sleeve as she pouted about something. Something inside Chaeng twisted at the sight, but she ignored it.
That was until Rosé walked over.
"Hey, Jungkook," she said, stopping right in front of him. "I needed to discuss something about the invitation cards with you guys. I need you in the meeting hall for a while."
