Chaeng sat between Rosé and Jaemin, her hands wrapped around a warm mug of hot chocolate. Across from her, Jungkook was lazily eating, occasionally glancing up at her. The day had been exhausting, but the buzz of excitement hadn’t worn off just yet.
Jaemin, who had already finished half his plate, leaned forward dramatically. “Okay, we need to settle this. Who had the worst experience today?”
“Worst?” Hana scoffed. “I got scammed at the tailor shop. I literally paid double for something I didn’t even need.”
Eun snorted. “That’s because you let the old man sweet-talk you into buying that ridiculous enchanted scarf.”
“It’s not ridiculous!” Hana protested. “He said it adapts to my mood.”
Jaemin smirked. “And yet, it’s been the same color all evening. Maybe your personality is just boring.”
Hana gasped and hit him on the arm, making everyone laugh.
“Okay, but I nearly got kidnapped,” Jaemin continued, shaking his head. “The baker tried to adopt me.”
Rosé burst out laughing. “What?!”
Jaemin nodded, looking genuinely distressed. “She said I gave off ‘hardworking grandson’ energy."
“I mean, I can see it,” Rosé said between giggles.
“She literally shoved an apron in my hands and told me to knead dough,” Jaemin groaned. “I had to run for my life.”
Everyone erupted into laughter as Jaemin dramatically mimicked his ‘escape.’
Eun took a sip of her soup and smirked. “At least you didn’t almost die in a magician’s shop.”
“What happened?” Rosé asked, eyes wide.
Eun leaned back in his chair. “So, we went into this store full of ancient relics, right? The magician was super old and kind of creepy. He told me to ‘test my fate’ by picking up a random object.”
“Uh-oh,” Hana muttered.
“Yeah, well, I grabbed a cool-looking staff. Next thing I know, it zaps me. I literally felt my soul leave my body.”
Taehyung cackled. “Did you awaken some hidden magical powers or just get electrocuted?”
“Electrocuted,” Eun deadpanned. “I fell to the floor, and the magician just went, ‘Oh. Guess it’s not yours.’”
The whole table erupted into laughter again.
“You seem so dramatic about it, though,” Chaeng added, grinning. “As if you died."
“I was dying,” Eun insisted. “For like five whole seconds.”
Jaemin wiped away fake tears. “Rest in peace, Eun. Taken from us too soon by an overpriced antique.”
“Oh, speaking of overpriced,” Rosé said, turning to Nari, “tell them about the potion shop.”
Nari groaned and covered her face. “No. I don’t want to talk about it.”
Hana nudged her. “Come on, it was hilarious.”
Nari sighed. “Fine. So, we went into this tiny potion shop, and the owner insisted on testing a product on me. He said it would ‘enhance my beauty’ or something.”
Taehyung leaned in. “And?”
“And it turned my entire face blue,” Nari muttered, glaring at her friends as they burst into laughter.
