Jimin sat on the armrest of the couch in the common room, watching Jungkook gaze across the hall, daydreaming, like he doesn't keep getting publicly rejected by a girl with a two-second intro.

“You’re still thinking about her.”

Jungkook didn’t look up. “Maybe.”

Jimin raised a brow. “Bro. She looked like she wanted to disappear when it was her turn to speak. I don’t think she’s into the whole... whatever this is.” He gestured vaguely at Jungkook’s general existence.

Jungkook finally looked up, smug. “Yeah? That’s kinda the point.”

Jimin frowned. “What?”

“She’s not tryna impress anyone. Doesn’t fake-smile. Doesn’t care who I am. That’s nice,” Jungkook said, stretching his arms out behind his head.

“You usually go for girls who worship you.”

“And I’m usually bored in a week.” Jungkook shrugged. “This one’s different.”

“Because she ignored you?”

“Because she exists differently.” He paused, then smirked. “Plus, the look she gave me? Like she wanted to throw a book at my face? That was hot.”

Jimin snorted. “You’ve got issues.”

“Maybe. But now I wanna make her laugh,” Jungkook said, almost to himself.

“Make her laugh? Dude, she glared at you like you insulted her ancestors.”

“Yeah. And now I want her to glare at me again. Preferably while talking to me.”

Jimin shook his head. “You sound like a child.”

Jungkook grinned. “Nah. I sound like a guy who saw someone he wants.”

Jimin sighed. “She’s gonna eat you alive.”

Jimin was mid-rant when a voice cut in from behind the couch.

"You're not seriously talking about her, are you?"

Jungkook and Jimin both looked up, startled.

Rosé stepped around the armrest, arms crossed, one eyebrow raised. "Kim Chaeyong?"

Jungkook smirked. "Were you eavesdropping, dear sister?"

She plopped herself down between them like she owned the entire couch. “You’re too loud not to eavesdrop. And yes, I’m talking about her. Chaeng, she’s a sweetheart. You? Are not going near her.”

Jungkook groaned dramatically. “Oh, come on.”

“No.”

He turned, resting his chin on the back of the couch to look at her. “Rosé, I swear, I’m not trying to mess with her. I just… think she’s cool, okay?”

Rosé stared at him, deadpan. “That’s what you said about the last girl. And the one before her. You think they’re cool and then suddenly they’re crying in the hallway.”

Jungkook waved her off. “That was different.”

Jimin muttered, “Was it?”

Jungkook shot him a glare.

Rosé leaned forward, eyes narrowed. “She’s not one of your flings, Jungkook. She doesn’t even look your way. And I swear, if I see her hurt because of you–”

“Rosé!” Jungkook whined, dramatic again. “I’m not gonna play her! I’m not even flirting! I just… want to be around her. She's interesting. And weird. But like, in a good way.”
