Jungkook pushed open the door to their shared room, stepping inside first and dropping their bags near the foot of the bed. The room was cozy—wooden walls, warm lighting, and a single large bed in the center.

Chaeng, still dazed from dinner, followed him in, her steps slightly sluggish.

Jungkook stretched his arms and turned to her. “Alright, I’ll sleep on the floor or the couch if there’s one—”

But then he noticed it.

Her expression.

She was just standing there, staring at him, her eyes slightly hazy, lips slightly parted like she was lost in thought.

Jungkook frowned. “Chaeng?”

She blinked once. Then twice.

Oh no.

Her chest felt warm. Way too warm. It wasn’t just the fireplace outside or the cozy temperature of the cottage—it was him.

Why did Jungkook suddenly look so good?

Her gaze trailed down his face—his sharp jawline, the curve of his nose, the slight furrow in his brows as he studied her.

Her heart started pounding.

Jungkook took a step closer. “Hey, are you okay?”

Okay? Absolutely not.

Her mind was screaming at her to look away, to act normal, to stop letting this ridiculous warmth take over her senses—

But her body wasn’t listening.

Instead, her hand reached out before she could even think.

She touched his face.

Jungkook froze.

Her fingers, soft and cold, grazed his jawline, her thumb brushing lightly over his cheekbone. The warmth in her chest spread like wildfire.

Jungkook stiffened. “W-What are you doing?”

Chaeng didn’t answer. She didn’t even know why she was doing this.

It was like something had snapped inside her—a strange pull, a magnetic force.

God, why was he so warm?

Jungkook swallowed hard.

“Chaeng…”

She blinked up at him, eyes completely lost in a trance. “You’re so… so…”

Jungkook’s throat went dry. “So… what?”

She opened her mouth to say something. Then suddenly—

She stumbled forward.

Jungkook barely had time to react before she collapsed against him, her body pressing into his.

His hands immediately shot up to steady her, gripping her shoulders. “Chaeng?! What the hell—”

Her arms were around him.

Her fingers traced down his chest, stopping right over his racing heartbeat.

“You feel that?” she whispered, tilting her head. “Your heart beats so fast when I’m near you.”

Jungkook gulped.

His hands hovered awkwardly in the air, not knowing where to place them.

“Chaeng…” his voice came out hoarse. “What are you—”

“I know you love me.”

His entire body froze.

Her eyes—dark, unwavering—held him captive.
