"Where is Sophia?" I asked the maid in the hall and she glanced sideway carefully before replying. "She went to her room a few minutes back." She stuttered and glanced in the direction of her room once again. I followed her eye and asked. "What's wrong?"

She looked at me and gulped before replying. "The prince is there with her." She said and lowered her eyes. My blood froze for a second when the words left her mouth. My hands shivered on either side in anger. Just what game is she playing? I thought and nodded at the maid, turned over my heels and found my way to his room.

I didn't know and just burst into the room. The colour on my face drained when I looked at the scene in front of me. Not in my wildest dreams I would have thought such a thing to happen. I was frozen on the spot. I wanted to move but my feet were rooted on the spot. When he turned his face to look at me all I could do was look at him and when I looked at Sophia she had a smile on her face like she was mocking me.

Stanley grabbed my arm and dragged me out of the room. "Kristen. It's not what you think. I can explain." He said as soon as he slammed the door behind him.

He took my hand in his and dragged me to my room when he saw the maids stopped what they were doing and watching us. I just walked silently, my legs were walking on their own and I had no energy left within me. I was too shocked to say anything.

"Kristen. Look at me." He said and tried to touch my face. I pulled away from him with a jerk and didn't want to look at his face.

"Kristen. Please. I can explain." He said desperately but my ears were numb. Tears gathered in my eyes and I wiped off a few with the back of my hand. He sighed looking at me.

"I didn't do anything. She was injured I just brought her back to her room. She was feeling bad that you don't trust her and I was ju.. just telling her not to worry about anything and she suddenly hugged me. I pushed her away and she started crying more. I didn't know what to do." He rambled, trying to convince me what I saw was not true.

I wiped off the tears and looked up at him. His expression looked pained like he was telling the truth but that was not what I saw. "I want to be alone," I said and he looked at me.

"Kristen, please." He said and tried to touch me again. I lifted my palm in a gesture to stop.

"No." He said and came to me. I looked into his eyes.

"Kristen. I would never hurt you like that. I don't know how to explain but what you saw was not true. She said that I was her soulmate and she had to choose. I don't even know what she means and before I could speak she took me off guard by kissing me." I am sorry."

His words oddly made sense, my mind struggled to understand the scene I had stumbled upon. "A kiss doesn't just happen out of nowhere, Stanley." His hands clenched into fists at his sides, frustration seeping into his voice. "I know, Kristen. I know how it looks. It's all my fault, she misread my intentions. I pushed her away, Kristen. My heart belongs to you and only you." I knew well that it was not his fault and he would never betray me. The fact that she tried to make a move on him made me pissed off. Her mocking smile haunted me, how dare she think he was her soulmate.

I looked at Stanley, searching his eyes for any sign of deceit. It only held the truth and pain. He reached for my hand, and this time, I didn't pull away. His touch was warm and it sent a shiver down my spine.

"Kristen," he whispered, his voice laced with pain, "I know this is hard to believe, but I need you to understand that you're the one I love. It'll be always you. Please, give me a chance to make things right." Torn between mixed emotions, I took a deep breath, I didn't want to hurt him when he was speaking the truth. I know him better than anyone. And I knew Sophia must have used dark magic either to make him hers or just to show me that she could make him hers. The thought alone made me want to kill her but right now I must tell him about her herself. "Stanley, I trust you," I said to bring him out of his misery.
