When I turned around, there was a tall and imposing man. A shadow turned real, dark and frowning, standing out in this peaceful garden.
The air got heavy, and my senses screamed at me. His eyes glowed red, and I felt a chill. The garden, once a comforting place, now felt like a battlefield.
"Who are you?" I asked, trying to sound uninterested. He lifted his head slowly, and his gaze held an intensity of hatred.
He looked at me up and down, his arms crossed and a frown plastered on his face. His eyes met mine, and this time they were glowing with vengeance.
"Your demise." He replied coldly.
I tapped my pointer finger on my chin, pretending to think about it. The look on the vampire's face was worth it, to be honest. He looked pissed off.
"Oh," I replied. He growled in anger, caught my neck by surprise, and lifted me in the air. "How dare a mere witch look down on me?"
He showed his fangs taking a step forward and smiling at me. I raised my eyebrows in a questioning way with a smile on my face. Not a least scared of the creature in front of me.
As he licked his lips and cracked his knuckles, a surge of power and an unusual urge to harm washed over me. It felt strange, like an unfamiliar force trying to take control. His right hand tightened around my neck, lifting me off the ground. Fear and confusion mingled within me, but I maintained a sarcastic facade.
I looked at me with a smirk. "Seriously?" I asked sarcastically and I placed my hand over his on my neck and willed my powers. My hand instinctively covered his on my neck, and I summoned my powers. A white light emerged on my left hand, and I tightened my grip on his throat effortlessly. He stumbled, releasing his hold, genuine surprise flickering in his eyes. I took slow steady steps towards him. The white light surrounded me like armour, but the dark force within me stirred. Fear of losing control against the want to embrace the strong power fought within. I took slow, steady movements towards him masking an internal conflict.
All colors drained from his face and I could see a bead of sweat already forming on his forehead. I am sure this was his first time seeing a witch with pure magic. I smirked loving how much control I had over him at the moment when he backed away from me in fear.
"You think you can kill me that easily?" He growled and lunged at me with a force which made me take several steps away from him and fall on my back. I shouldn't have taken him lightly. "You are just pathetic You do not deserve to live after betraying William."
"What do you mean?" I asked him. He scoffed.
"Seriously are you asking me? You have no idea how much it hurt him after you ran away. He loved you and protected you but you betrayed him. A bitch like you deserves to die." He spoke in rage.
I quickly recovered myself and stood on my feet before he lunged forward at full speed to attack me. I felt this strange sensation take over my body. Something I never felt before. Like the urge to kill. It didn't feel good or bad. It just felt weird. My heart started to pound. Before his hands made contact with my body I extended my palm and willed my power stopping him in mid-air and lifting him off the floor. "So you are one of his puppets?" I asked. He growled trying to free himself. "I do not have the mood to explain myself to a lowly creature like you," I said and choked him further with an invisible force. He kicked the air trying to free himself. When he was about to pass out I let him go and he fell on the floor gasping for air. His red eyes locked with mine furiously and I must say even though he knew he did not have a chance against me he tried his best to hurt me and didn't seem to back down.
"I'll kill you he said and used his vampire speed to attack me once again but I dodged it without much effort. " I am done playing with you. You should stop now if you want to live. This is my last warning." I said and folded my hands in front. He glared at me pulled out a knife from his boot and threw it at me. The knife stopped before making contact with my forehead and I took it in my hand twirling it around. "You do have a perfect aim," I said and threw it at him taking him by surprise. It pierced through his chest and he fell to the ground. Without wasting a second I pulled the knife out of his chest and smiled at him. The evil force within me tried to take over and before I could control it my hands moved like they had a mind of their own and beheaded the vampire.
I heard several footsteps approaching us and when I looked up I saw the council member standing in front of us. Two men and two women stood in front of me with curious eyes. A man with long silver hair and a peculiar nose stood out among them. When our eyes met I felt some kind of strange feeling like happiness and anxiety mixed together. Unintensionally I smiled at him and he smiled at me looking surprised. When I heard a woman clear her throat I composed myself and threw the head on the floor.
"I can explain," I uttered, my voice carrying a mix of nervousness and the urge to clarify the situation. I said to the beautiful woman in front of me with emerald green eyes.
"Hi, I am Seraphina." She said and extended her hand for me to take. In a gesture of respect, I bowed my head and lightly shook her hand, yet curiosity danced in my eyes. During our handshake, I noticed a peculiar glaze over Seraphina's emerald eyes, as if she looked into a distant memory. I glanced at her, intrigued, wondering what kinds of things she was seeing. When her eyes returned to normal, I couldn't stop myself from saying, "I have never seen someone as beautiful as you." I couldn't help but grin, fascinated by the ethereal beauty that wrapped her.
She smiled brightly. Her response had a magical atmosphere to it when she spoke in a magical voice, "It's a pleasure to meet the bearer of pure magic." The starkness of her words got me, and a mixture of surprise and understanding lit up my features. Having my magic acknowledged by someone of Seraphina's status felt like a historic moment.
"I am Kristen." I introduced myself attempting to maintain composure.
I heard a growl behind me and it was none other than William. He approached me furiously but stopped himself when he saw the council members. "What happened?" He asked gritting his teeth in anger. I sighed.
"Your friend attacked me. I defended myself." I said.
"You killed a person, Kristen." He said in an angry tone. I just shrugged.
"Ms Kristen, you must be tired, get some rest, will talk later." The man with silver hair said looking at me in amusement as if he caught a child breaking a vessel. I couldn't stop myself from smiling back. I nodded and bowed my head to everyone in respect before walking away.
