Third person P.O.V
The King had summoned William to his chamber after the attack. Tension hung thick in the air as he entered, still trying to calm his racing heart from the chaos surrounding Kristen. Edmond stood by the window, swirling his wine glass, seemingly unfazed by the storm clouds gathering outside—much like the darkness in the room.
William cleared his throat, attempting to capture Edmond's attention, but the King remained indifferent, staring into the tempest beyond. Frustration surged within William; he recalled Edmond's deceit and the danger it had put Kristen in.
Without a hint of concern, the King asked, "Did she display her powers during the attack?" His irritation was evident.
William's anger ignited. How could the King be so callous about Kristen's safety? It was as if she were just a pawn in Edmond's cruel game. "Did you plan this attack, Father?" His voice rose, betraying the storm of emotions within him.
Edmond remained composed, motioning for him to sit. Despite his rage, William felt like a child again, overwhelmed by his father's cold glare.
"You didn't answer my question," Edmond pressed, emotionless.
William's heart sank; he knew his father would never confess to his betrayal. "No, she didn't," he replied flatly.
Edmond contemplated this, but William pressed on, determination fueling his voice. "She needs more time. You gave her a week, but it's only been three days. You attacked her when she was unprepared. She's practicing, but patience is required."
William's protectiveness for Kristen burned fiercely as he faced his father. "So, you think a witch with unimaginable powers couldn't defend herself from a small vampire attack?" he shot back, his voice raised, shattering the glass in his hands.
He fell silent, wrestling with his anger. It wasn't the right moment for rage.
"You will stay away from her. It's time to find your mate. The witches say she's almost ready to show up," Edmond declared, his tone leaving no room for argument.
"I can't do that now, Father. Kristen needs me. I'll follow your orders once I know she's safe after awakening her powers." William's gaze was unyielding, unwavering.
Edmond drummed his fingers on the desk. "Let's see what we can do about that. You can leave now."
Lightning flashed outside, mirroring William's tumultuous emotions. He stormed out, blood boiling with anger and frustration. How could his father be so cold, so indifferent to Kristen's vulnerability? She didn't need a reckless experiment; she needed protection.
As he moved through the corridor, the distant thunder resonated with his internal storm. Helplessness surged within him; he couldn't abandon Kristen to his father's cruel schemes.
With each step, his resolve solidified. He had to protect her, no matter the cost. Stepping into the raging storm, he vowed to himself: he would keep Kristen safe and help her awaken her powers, fighting against his father's tyranny for the one he loved.
After two days Kristen was fully immersed in her training with Linda, focusing intently on controlling the elements: earth, air, water, and fire. The rush of power surged through her, filling her with excitement and purpose. While she thrived with fire, water remained a frustrating challenge. Each failure only fueled her determination to master all the elements.
Under Linda's watchful eye, her confidence blossomed. She felt indestructible, convinced she was destined for greatness. With every practice, she honed her skills, learning to wield fire with precision, avoiding any accidental destruction.
As she concentrated, flames flickered in her hands, casting a warm glow over her face. Her heart raced with a mix of excitement and fear as she inched the fire toward a black rock. Linda's voice echoed in her mind, urging her to focus. Taking a deep breath, she expanded the flames, enveloping the rock in a fiery embrace. It was a delicate balance of power and control. With her eyes closed, she visualized the rock surrounded only by fire, blocking out everything else.
When she opened her eyes, a thrill ran through her as she saw her spell had worked perfectly. The rock blazed in flames, but nothing else caught fire—not even the grass nearby. Pride swelled in her chest; her precision was flawless.
JJohn, Lyn and Linda watched with aww. The light of the sun amplified the beauty of it. She concentrated further and the fire started to swirl in beautiful patters around the rock. She imagined a dragon and the flame took the shape of a beautiful dragon circling the rock. She changed the position of her palm and channel her water element. Soon water rose from her hand and she pointed it at the sky. The water free falled like rain covering the dragon. But the fire did not distinguish. It looked like the dragon was playing with the water.
Everyone looked at her with amazement. They have not seen any witch who can channel opposite elements.
"Kristen, that is beautiful." Lyn placed a hand on her shoulder and gave a light squeeze.
Kristen smiled at her and willied her elements to stop. The fire and water vanished within seconds.
The King watched the show from his chamber and a smile formed on his always frowning face.
