John's P.O.V

I watched Linda walking alongside the King, my heart racing. There was Kristen, laughing and chatting with a guy who must be Linda's son. Seeing her smile like that felt surreal; it had been ages since she'd looked genuinely happy. My stomach twisted with jealousy as she spoke to him like they were old friends.

I knew I had no right to feel this way. Kristen belonged to William, and I had always kept my distance, afraid of what my feelings might mean. The thought of wanting more terrified me; I couldn't risk our friendship or put her in danger.

I strained to listen to their conversation but only caught snippets of the King's voice. It struck me then: they were likely using some enchantment to shield their words. Unease gnawed at me. William had trusted me to keep her safe, and now, I was left in the dark.

The realization hit hard—if Linda was here, then William's trip to London had been pointless. He'd gone to meet her, only to find her at the King's side. My mind raced with possibilities; the King was up to something, and it felt ominous. With Linda's presence, it was clear they intended to awaken Kristen's powers, turning her into a weapon.

Panic surged within me. I had to protect her, but I felt powerless, caught between my duty and the fear of what lay ahead.

As all these thoughts raced through my mind, my dead heart started pounding. Something terrible was about to happen, and I had to act fast. I knew I had to alert William before it was too late. My emotions were running high as I tried to come up with a plan to save Kristen and stop the king's evil scheme.

Kristen is not safe, and with Linda's presence, there is only one thing that makes sense. She is here to awaken Kristen's powers and turn her into a weapon. My dead heart hammered inside me. Something is going to happen very soon. I must alert William.

I crouched behind a marble pillar and watched as the King walked away with Linda's son. I knew that Linda was one of the most powerful witches around, with the ability to manipulate both earth and water. And her son? He was said to be able to control fire, making them both a force to be reckoned with.

I had heard rumours that Linda was immortal, but I couldn't be sure. All I knew was that if the King had chosen to involve her directly, there would be no stopping him. They were more powerful than anyone else in the coven, a combination of the three divine elements. If they decided to turn against us, we would be destroyed within seconds.

As I watched Linda take Kristen to the garden, my anxiety grew. I knew that Linda could sense my presence, but I couldn't tear my eyes away from her.

I had to find a way to protect Kristen and stop the king's plan before it was too late. Kristen started to talk to Linda about herself and when she took my name and said we don't get along stung my heart. It's not like I don't like her. It's the opposite. I like her 'a lot'. I couldn't dare to express it. I have never come across anyone as pure as her. The moment I laid my eyes on her, I felt a weird urge to protect her.

The way Kristen's aura made everyone submit to her was something we could not understand. I remember the first time she met the King at the ball, he froze in his place and looked like he almost submitted to her. He resisted the urge to curtsy and the same happened with the others who spoke to her. Later, when he met with the council members, they informed him that they felt the urge to submit to her, which left them feeling threatened.

It was clear that she belonged to the witch clan, and once her magic was awakened, she would be immensely powerful. The council had suggested killing her before she could turn against them, but the King had different plans. He intended to awaken her powers and use her as a weapon in his wars. If she didn't regain her magic, he would have her killed; if she did and stood by his side, other supernatural races would seek to eliminate her. Either way, she was trapped in a deadly predicament.
