Chapter 2: The Child

A low static of the headpiece sounded before the agents spoke, "Buzz" "This is Hollows two reporting in, can you hear us?"

"I read you loud and clear, what do you have to report?" Hollow three asks from within a computer-filled room.

"Wires and cameras are in position; The target's apartment was so small we only needed four cameras and two wires to have complete coverage. Double-check to make sure you can hear and see us well from your position." Hollow four replies.

Clicking a few times on their mouse Hollow Three was able to pull up all the cameras on their closest left screen. Making a few quality adjustments on their end Hollow Three confirms that the cameras are operational, and recording has started.

"Okay now that the cameras are done, turn your earpieces off and test the wires inside please, reconnect after two minutes" Hollow three ask of the field agents

Hollow two and four look to each other and nod in agreement, they then reach to their ears and click the earpieces off. Pulling his watch out Hollow Four starts the two-minute timer. Turning to the closest placed camera, they signal the test to start. 

Hollow four softly speaks about random mundane gibberish, while Hollow two turns on the TV in one room and music in another. A small ding rings from the watch and the Hollows within the apartment turn off both the music and TV and flip their earpieces back on.

"Perfect, get out and regroup at 1800 in room A12 at the academy."

Checking her phone and noticing all talk of the scandal is gone, Iza can finally breathe a sigh of relief, the last thing she wants is to lose her job over that night's mistake. Slapping her cheeks, she tries to ready herself for the day to come. 

"Alright! Let's get this done, the article is gone there won't be any office gossip. You got this I's. Deep breaths!"

And with a final deep breath, she leaves her small apartment to catch the train to Thirtieth Street where she will have to depart and walk the remaining way. Stepping out of the train and mingling within the hustle and bustle of the sidewalk morning commute, she arrives a few minutes early. Iza tries to sneak her way into her seat and begin work keeping her head down so as not to draw any attention.

The day comes and goes with only a few whispers of the incident, standing and stretching her sore body she logs out and leaves for the day. The gossip only lasted a few weeks before it was gone, but around that time Iza started to notice she felt more fatigued after work than she usually did. She played it off as nothing more than stress, not only was she worried about what others might be saying about her, but she was working on a big project involving the Zennen Group. The Presentation was only two weeks away and there was much to be done. 

The day of the presentation came quickly. The morning of the presentation Iza woke early, her exhausted body needed a hot shower before she was to leave. Stepping out of the shower and getting dressed she took note of the queasiness starting in her stomach.

"Come on you chicken don't be like this, we worked hard on this project, and we are going to kick butt today," Iza said in a cheery voice to the reflection in the bathroom. 

Having to take a new route by train, Iza arrived fifteen minutes early at the sleek tall building of the Zennen Group. Clicking the elevator button, she proceeded to the twenty-fifth floor.

Climbing out of his black car and passing the keys off to a valet, Loyd was on the phone with a manager about a proposal the Lan group was sending their way.

"I'm at the office now, don't worry about it, I'll sit in on the presentation in your place." 

The line on the other end of the phone was a sick manager, He was one of Loyd's favorites. Loyd suggested to them to take a few days of paid time off. With a satisfied ending to the call, Loyd throws his phone back into his pocket and gazes upon the sleek building before proceeding inside. 

Within the small conference room on the twenty-fifth floor, Iza set up her presentation. Looking to begin she made eye contact with the man at the end of the table. Sweat started to build on her brow, the eye contact dragged on for far longer than she intended before she forced herself to look away.

A small smirk played across Loyd's face before he started to read the proposal. Iza began her speech and slide show, slowly building confidence as she went. Loyd was impressed, the written by Iza was a good one. He never really intended to take the offer seriously but after listening to it he changed his mind. Maybe he needed to keep her by his side, offer her a job here at least. He could double or even triple her current salary; she could become an asset. As Loyd was deep in thought on how to win Iza over he found himself observing her closely, she was suddenly acting differently. He rose to his feet and quickly made it to her side holding her hair as she vomited into the trash. 

Suddenly, feeling weak, Iza fainted into the arms of Loyd. Loyd acted quickly ordering the people within the small room and got her to the closest hospital.

A low hum and beeping of machines played out within the bright hospital room. Loyd was on the phone yelling at the Hollow investigation team, questioning how they failed to report her illness. In the middle of the call, a nurse interrupts him and asks if they could go over the test results. Loyd hangs the phone up and follows the nurse out the door. 

"Hello sir, it looks like all the results came back normal and there shouldn't be anything to worry about. After this round of fluids, you two can return home and rest"

"How are the results normal? She was throwing up and fainted in my arms!" Loyd began to raise his voice to the nurse.

The nurse raised her arms in defense and replied quickly, "Sir please, these things can happen, it is perfectly normal to have these symptoms while pregnant. I suggest decreasing stress and getting more rest." 

Shocked at the nurse's response, he rips the paperwork from the nurse's hands to confirm what he just heard. On the bottom of the last page in red bolded lettering was "Blood pregnancy test: Positive"
