Chapter 7: Hospital Stay: Part 3

Satisfied with breakfast, the two of them returned to room seven where Iza was staying. The nurses hooked Iza back up to IV fluids and continued to encourage her to walk about the room or hospital.

Loyd had planned to leave Iza that morning to draw up the contract. After leaving he made a phone call to Hugo to have someone meet him to write it up and then be a witness to both of their signatures.

Iza was left in the room alone. She tried flipping through the channels to find something she would be willing to watch but came up empty. She decided to take a walk around the hospital to kill some time. After coming back to the room, she was fed up with searching for something to watch and became bored. She made a call to a nurse and asked if they had a book she could read, and to her delight, they were able to get her tablet.

She settled into bed and turned on the tablet to see what books it had to offer. She opened the Windlepad app and found every book known to man, or so it seemed. Scrolling through the options, she decided to make her way to a developmental psychology textbook. She wanted to be a prepared parent.

She also had planned on reviewing her old notes from college. She had been out for a few years but wanted to keep everything fresh if she was going to be away from the job market while she raised their child. Calling the nurse, a second time and requesting a notebook and pencil. Iza planned to make a schedule for herself, she was planning on reading over her old notes and taking up studying anything new that caught her eye.

Iza was a quick reader and absorbed everything that she read fairly well and if she didn't understand it after the first read a second or third read-through would do the trick.

After a few hours of study, she was nearly halfway with the book. She decided to make another walk then she would continue. Starting to pick up where she was, a knock at the door came.

Loyd opened the door with paperwork in hand and an unfamiliar person in tow. Loyd introduced Shin to Iza and handed her the paperwork from his hand. It was the contract he had said he would make for her.

"I don't entirely know legal jargon; would I be able to take a few days to read this over and talk to Eden as well."

Loyd nodded his head, Shin bowed to the two of them and left a cell phone and business card with Iza for her to call after reading over the contract. Shin left the two of them shortly after.

Loyd took note of the tablet in Iza's hand and asked if she found everything on it okay. Iza, happy, replied saying there was more than enough. She then explained her plan of reading and studying to Loyd. He was impressed with her drive and initiative; she was smart and there was no doubt that their child would be too.

"I won't be able to join you for lunch, I have a few things to take care of in the city. Do you remember your way to the kitchen? Did you want me to get you anything while I'm away?"

A little surprise that he offered, Iza quickly scribbled down a list of things she wanted from her apartment and assured him that she could find the kitchen on her own. Handing the note off to Loyd, he looked it over and placed the list in his pocket, letting her know he would grab the items she wanted.

Loyd had already set a team in motion to move all of Iza's stuff to the estate in River Run today but, would be sure to place the listed items to the side and bring them to her directly.

He checked his wristwatch and told her to eat soon, or he would send a nurse to take her to the kitchen by force. Iza stuck out her tongue to his comment and sarcastically replied with a salute to her forehead.

"Yes sir, my stomach has already reminded me it is empty sir." breaking into a laugh at the end.

Loyd smirked rolling his eyes and jokingly saluted back to her before leaving.

Controlling her laughter, she began to read another few chapters before stretching and heading to the kitchen. When she arrived, she placed her order and asked if she could watch the chef cook. With a large smile across their face, they pulled a seat up for Iza. As the chef cooked, they picked up a conversation about cooking and food.

After the food was made, the chef handed the food over to Iza. She took the plate and headed for the seating area. As she ate, she was drawn to watching the wildlife in the woods. She finished up and headed back to her room.

She looked over the contract for a bit, then picked up the tablet scrolling to find a textbook on law, legal rights, and contracts. She soon found herself down a rabbit hole of information and the notebook she had was filling up fast.

She took breaks through her reading and walked around stretching her body, she wanted to push and finish the book before the end of the day. She was so lost in reading that she didn't hear the knock on her door.

Loyd opened the door, a bag in hand, and brought it to the bed. Iza was spooked by the sudden touch of the bag on her leg. Giving Loyd a few blinks she began to process the situation. She smiled at him and dug through the bag he brought her.

She fished out her laptop and booted it up. She could access her documents from school and type out her new notes, so she didn't have to use so much paper. Before she could continue Loyd shut the laptop closed and cooed for her to take a break and have dinner, it was already late, and he suspected she hadn't eaten yet.

A sheepish grin made its way onto Iza's face, he was right, she lost track of time. A "Gerrrr" came from her stomach. She pushed her stuff aside and stood, before he could scold her for not eating, she grabbed Loyd's hand and pulled him to the kitchen. They ordered and waited for the food to arrive.

As they ate, they asked each other how their day was. Loyd was vague and said he had to approve projects and sign some paperwork. Iza on the other hand shared her newfound knowledge and proudly told Loyd to expect the contract to be reviewed and signed by lunch tomorrow.

Loyd walked Iza back and asked if he could read in the corner while she studied to keep her company.

Iza was happy with the offer and shook her head and replied with an "eh."

Loyd observed her as she typed away on her computer, hiding his eyes behind his book as he watched her. She was making little notes on the margins of the contract as well, content Loyd began reading his own book.

The light of the sun left them and soon Loyd fell asleep reclined in the chair, a book flopped on his chest. Iza took notice of the time and finished up the latest chapter she was on.

Setting all her belongings onto the dresser, making sure to be quiet. She approached Loyd and carefully took the book from him, placing it with her things. Iza grabbed the blanket from her bed and wrapped it around Loyd so he wouldn't be cold, then climbed into bed for the night.

Late that night Loyd, in a half-asleep state, moved from the chair to the bed, hugging a soft pillow close to his body and falling back to sleep.
