Chapter 11: Settling In Part 3

Loyd got a phone call from the estate on the morning of the first day he returned from the city.

Loyd looked at his phone and the contact that was shown on it. He thought to himself, how incompetent can the flowers be that they need his attention this soon after leaving? With the roll of his eyes, he answered the call.

"The is Flower code name Rose, there was an incident at the garden sir."

Loyd flashed red with anger and yelled into his phone,

"What could possibly have happened that would be of my concern? Hugo picked all the Flowers personally for this role. Your Job is to maintain the garden's safety and bring the flower to bloom. How have you all allowed for something to happen this soon."

"This was out of our reach, I apologize sir. The flower to bloom had a nightmare last night. She was worried that the shock would affect the child. We brought in one of our doctors for an evaluation. The scans came back normal, and she settled in for the day without any further concerns... If I may be so bold, may I make a request?"

Loyd listens to Rose's words on the edge of his seat but gives a sigh of relief when he finds out that the two of them are alright.

"Yes, Rose go ahead."

"I would call her and bring her a gift. She seems to enjoy books perhaps it would be good to get her one upon your return."

"Ah, yes. Thank you for the suggestion, I'll see to it. Be my ears if she asks for anything in the meantime."

With a click the call ends. Loyd spins in his office chair and looks out across the city. He thinks to himself on how this will be more stressful than he anticipated. His chest got tight just thinking of something happening to her. He shook his head out and went back to work, the sooner he got done here the sooner he could get back to her.

Iza had afternoon tea in the library. Violet, one of the chefs, had made a special blend to help soothe her worries. Iza drank the warm liquid, and it helped calm her mind as she read over the papers the doctor had given her.

By the time the cup of tea was finished, she had read everything. She looked around the room from her seat on the sofa and wondered if there were any books on pregnancy she could read.

Iza shook her head, of course, there wouldn't! Why would a man have those books in his personal library?

Iza sighed and got up nonetheless and looked through the towering shelves of books. She came across a few biology books but searching through their table of context she didn't see any chapters specific to pregnancy.

Violet came into the room to check in on Iza and make sure the tea was to her liking and if she wanted another pot.

Iza brain buzzed, what perfect timing she thought!

"Hello, Violet!" Iza beamed with a smile on her face.

"Hello, my lady" Violet greeted her and politely bowed in response.

Iza followed Violet, making her way around the coffee table, to stay out of Violet's way as she worked.

"Is there any way for me to go into town tomorrow? I want to stop by a bookstore and pick up some books on pregnancy. I'm curious about what's to come and if I'm honest, I'm a bit embarrassed about this morning, having the doctor come out over something so silly."

Iza played with her hands and looked at her feet as she spoke.

Violet placed the tray back on the table and took Iza's hand in hers. Violet with a stern voice said,
