A lot of students liked the art club photo booth. Even my Instagram posts never got more attention than the photos I'd taken and uploaded. Well, it was only 31 likes, but it was a lot for me.
The first day of intramurals/foundation day was lively. The day was perfect, the sun was giving us its blessing. It started with the opening ceremony and later with the cheerleading competition. Then everyone proceeded to either the sports they participated in or wanted to watch or did whatever the hell they wanted. Because I didn't want to watch any sports, I decided to help the Art club.
Jaeden wasn't in school because he was finishing the music he composed. He said that I could go to their house later to listen to the music (as long as his father wasn't in their house). And I couldn't wait.
It doesn't take a lot of time before some freshmen students went to the Art club's photo booth. Their treasurer received the payment, then Christian, with his DSLR camera, followed the freshmen students as they choose a backdrop. They only got four pictures. And they choose to take pictures on each backdrop, using props and stuff in the box.
Lawrence and I were assigned to watch his backdrop and accommodate the customers with whatever they needed. When they got to ours, a girl asked for the big shade in the box so I grabbed it and handed it to her. Then she and his friends posed at Lawrence's backdrop, mumbling their admiration at the design.
There was a smile of pride plastered on Lawrence's face. And it made me happy seeing him like that.
After, they waited a couple of minutes at the bench on the corner as one of the art club members edited their pictures while another one was waiting beside the printer as he would cut and wrap the final photos.
And it was done!
Outside, we could all hear the freshmen students' admiration at the photos saying that it was cute and nice and they would definitely need to go back again.
We were smiling from ear to ear. And when the freshmen's voices were gone, we all cheered and clapped.
"Congratulations everyone for our first customers," Mrs. Anderson said.
In an instant, it became busy. Everyone was doing something. Even I have never been so busy. But I enjoyed it, everyone enjoyed it.
And then Hudson and his rich friends came. The smugness that Hudson put made Lawrence and I scowled -- even just seeing their presence always made my mind boil.
Some people stopped whatever their doing and stared at Hudson and his friends. There were the looks that said that they hated them, but also wished that it was them. And, okay, I had that feeling too when I saw them... sometimes (I should clarify that it was more on the hate side than the wish side). But whatever.
When Hudson's eyes were on me, he was trying to look surprised even though the smirk he was hiding was peaking. "So, you're here," he said. The sweet perfume that he wore screamed: "I'm rich." "I wonder why you didn't attend the Writing club anymore, now I know you wanted to be an artist. Well, it suits you more than writing garbage." His minions snickered.
My fists clenched. I hate them. They were worst than Jaeden and his friends because they knew how to nail the words hard inside you.
Lawrence rolled his eyes. "Felix didn't need your Writing club to be a better writer. His stories are better than petty blog gossip."
Hudson had a blog about school gossip: like who was hooking up with who, or having sex with who, or fighting with who, and stuff like that. Everyone in school knew that blog, it was garbage and yet had a lot of audience.
"Oh, thank you for taking the time to read my blog," Hudson said in his sweet, fake voice, putting his hand on his chest and a smirk.
Lawrence and I were glaring, but Hudson didn't care as he looked at the backdrop that Lawrence created. The other guy who was holding a DSLR camera was shifting his foot.
