"I need to have a new crush," I said out of nowhere as we looked at a couple making romantic poses on Lawrence's backdrop.
"Okaaay. Why the sudden urge?" Lawrence asked.
A flash of Jaeden yesterday with his rockstar aura and determined face went into my vision. And how I was sure it would make Stacey notice him.
"There's no reason. Ever since Drake graduated, I didn't have someone to put my attention" -- I looked at my tennis shoes and blushed -- "and I just want to have a crush on someone."
And on cue, Stacey entered the photo booth with her cheerleader friends. Lawrence made a loud "tsk," but I grinned when they approached us.
"Felix!" Stacey was jumping in front of me, making other people look in her direction. But they were all smiling. No one could resist Stacey's charm, even the one who envied her. Well, maybe except for Lawrence.
"Hi, Stacey," I said.
"OMG! You made me cry with the last update you published. What the hell was happening?"
I scratched the back of my head and chuckled. I still wasn't getting used to Stacey gushing at my web novel.
She didn't wait for my reply as she looked at Lawrence's backdrop. "Anyway, this is really cool. And almost every student here already posted their pictures on Instagram. And now that we were done with the cheerleading, we finally had time to be here."
"Lawrence made that backdrop," I said, nodding at the backdrop Stacey was looking at, which Lawrence glared at me.
"Really?" Stacey's raised her perfect-curved eyebrows. "It's beautiful."
"Thanks," Lawrence muttered. Even though he didn't roll his eyes, I could hear it in his tone.
After helping them and Christian took the picture, then got their photos and left, I turned to Lawrence. "You're really awful to her."
He didn't hold back and rolled his eyes. "I don't like her."
I sighed.
Lawrence's tone was back to being cheery as he said, "So, you wanted to find a new person to crush on? Me and Christian will stroll around again this afternoon. Want to come?"
"Christian and I."
"What?"
"Not 'me and Christian,' it should be 'Christian and I.'"
Lawrence rolled his eyes. "Okay, Nerd." I lightly shoved him before we both laughed. "So, want to come with us?"
"I don't know. I still need to help Jaeden for the band audition later this evening."
"Is he still practicing?"
I fished my phone in my pocket and looked at the screen, no message. "Yeah, that's what he said."
Lawrence rubbed his hands together as he smiled evilly. "I'm excited to watch his performance. Whether he did awful or good, it would still an entertainment. Though I prefer he failed awfully."
"Hey, I'm the one who convinced him. It would tarnish my reputation," I said between my laughs.
I decided to join Christian and Lawrence, with Lawrence promising me that they would be prioritizing finding me a new crush. Besides, I have still more or less two hours before I needed to help Jaeden with what he needed.
Holding the milkshake that we bought from Entrepreneur Club, we walked around the hallways, looking at the booths of every club. There were fewer people in the hallways, it was obvious by the shouts at the field that most were at the awarding ceremony.
