Promises. { Chapter nine }

Harry's POV

I drove home which didn't take as long as today seeming it was 10 at night so no one was really driving which was good! I was about 10 minutes away from the hospital and  I looked over and saw I got a text from Hailey and without thinking I grabbed my phone and read it just as I was about to reply my car swerved over onto the rail. I wasn't hurt thank God but my car was stuck on the rail so I called 911.

" 911 whats your emergency?"

" Eh I was driving and I got a text and I picked up my phone without thinking and my car swerved over onto the rail. i'm fine but my car is stuck "

" Okay we're sending an ambulance and a tow truck right away "

" okay, thank you "

the ambulances and stuff arrived and I was taken to the hospital to get checked out and I actually only had one scratch  

" sir, your car had to be put in the shop it wont be ready till tomorrow do you have someone you can call to pick you up?"

" Eh. yeah let me call her"

I picked up my phone and went through my contacts and I felt bad but Hailey is the only one close I can call

* ring ring ring rin-*  " Hello?" she said in a tired voice great I woke her up

" Uh hey Hailey um I was kind of in a car accident i'm fine but my car its in the shop now can you come pick me up from the hospital?"

" Oh my God are you serious? i'm coming i'll be there in 10" she said and hung up

I sat there for the next 10 minutes and she walked in

" Oh my God are you okay?" she said running up to me and hugging me tight

" i'm fine I promise" and then she sniffled " wait why are you crying?"

" its just everything. I cant lose you and it just scared me a lot!"

" i'm sorry "

" how did it happen?"

" I saw your text and without thinking I picked it up and read it and my car swerved over and got stuck on the rail "

" so its my fault" she whispered

" no not at all! I shouldn't have read the text or I should've pulled over"

" I knew you were on the road I shouldn't have sent it!"

" no stop its not your fault okay"

" Lets just be more careful from now on okay"

" okay" I said and we walked out of the hospital to her car and I thought i'd just stay at hers tonight since it would be too much trouble to go all the way back to Louis and i's place.

Your POV

its all my fault! how could I be so stupid? I knew not to text him he was on the road! what if i'd lost him? all these thoughts ran through my mind they wouldn't stop!

" Hailey"

" hm?"

" stop worrying"

" how do you know i'm worrying?"

" you're being quite"

"maybe i'm just quite in car rides?"

" no. you're worrying"

" i'm sorry"

" don't be"

" but I am!"

" you have no reason to be! is there something else on your mind though?"

" well..."

" tell me"

" I went on twitter last night and-" before I could even finish Harry finished for me

" hate?"

" yeah.."

" Why cant people just leave you alone? you've already got enough on your plate!"

" Harry calm down!"

" No its not fair!"

" Harry you're scaring me!"

" YOU JUST DONT UNDERSTAND OKAY I GO THROUGH THIS EVERYDAY AND I'M TIRED OF IT"

Who is this? this is not the Harry I thought he was and I cant handle whoever this is! By this time I had tears forming in my eyes but I tried not to let them fall. Just as he said that I pulled in my driveway and literately ran to my front door and ran upstairs and slammed the door and locked it

" Hailey wait! i'm so sorry!"

I just sat on my bed and cried. all the memories of my somewhat abusive ex came flying into my mind and I couldn't take it.

I heard footsteps coming closer to my door and I just hugged my knees tighter

" Hailey"

" what"

" can I come in?"

" no"

" please"

" fine" I said and walked up and unlocked my door

" oh Hailey"

I just stayed silent

" I didnt mean to scare you I don't know what came over me... i'm so sorry!"

" yeah that's what everyone says"

" you know i'd never hurt you right?"

" again that's what everyone says! I don't know what to believe!"

" someone else has hurt you?"

" I had an abusive ex" I whispered

" Hailey look at me. I will never EVER hurt you or let anyone else hurt you as long as I live I promise!"

" why do you keep promising me things?"

" because I promise i'll never leave you, I promise i'll never hurt you, I mean it I really do"

" i'm just scared. promises always get broken"

" not always"

" always for me"

" it wont happen this time"

" that doesn't change how scared I am about it"

" what can I do to make you not scared?"

" I don't know... just try not to leave"

" I wont leave"

" promise?" I smiled

" promise" he laughed and then he leaned in and our lips got close....
