"Why aren't they shipping me off as well?" Helen asks me as we stand in the kitchen together.

I'm making myself some pasta and she walked in for some water, but just as she turned to leave she stopped and asked me.

"They probably are Helen Papa is just looking for the best man, he loves you it's not like he'd marry you to just anyone."

Helen shakes her head, gripping her glass of water tightly, "No Aria they aren't it's been five days since your little date with Ares and no one has said anything to me about it."

I turn around to fully look at her, "You sound upset, do you want to be shipped off?"

Helen rubs her eyes and I realise how tired she looks, her dark circles are more prominent and her hair is a mess. She doesn't look too good.

"No, I don't but...I should be getting married off. Do you think no one wants me and that's why Papa hasn't said anything to me?"

I purse my lips as I look away, honestly, that is what I had assumed. Helen had a slightly ruined reputation after she'd been sent to a rehab facility the day after Mamma found her passed out in the bathroom because she'd taken too many pills.

It was meant to be a secret but of course, other families had found out, and while it was perfectly fine for the men of this world to have coke addictions or drink themselves half to death the same didn't apply for women.

Feminism wasn't exactly a popular movement within mob families though we had progressed enough that men who hit their wives were shamed and usually dealt with accordingly.

So at least there's that, didn't know basic human decency was something to be praised but you take what you can get at this point.

But I couldn't tell my sister that, what good did it do her? And while she wasn't exactly sober she never went over the edge and only indulged herself on special occasions.

And I certainly didn't need her relapsing badly again, not now our family had begun interlinked with the Hernandez family.

"Papa is probably too busy dealing with sorting out my asshole husband," I replied to her and she snorted.

"Aria he is gorgeous stop complaining and he's not even twenty-eight yet. I would love to be married to that,"

"Helen he is a raging psychopath with the biggest ego I have ever seen in my life," I argue, outraged.

"Oh is that why you came back in such a foul mood after your little date on Saturday?" Helen giggles, sipping her drink as I turn back to my pasta.

Of course, that and the fact I had witnessed him kill two people in front of me just to prove some point I was his.

"If you had to have a conversation with that man you would also be in a terrible mood,"

"Aria."

"And I have to marry him, I'm stuck with him forever and yeah maybe he's nice to look at but the minute he opens his mouth he makes me want to grab a gun and-"

"ARIA," Helen says loudly and I turn around to see said man standing there.

Perfect fucking timing.

I swallow nervously as Ares leans against the wall, smirking, "Please continue,"

"No thanks that was all I said to say," I reply, staring at him as he glances at Helen.

"Would you give me a minute alone with my fiance?" He asks my sister, his voice is calm and soft. A perfect gentleman.

A perfect liar.
