Madison knew how her due date was getting closer. She was about to go on maternity leave. She knew she was scared to become a mum. But she was excited also.

Things with her and Cal had been going great. Neither of them had been arguing. And they were getting on so well.

Cal had surprised her by setting up a whole nursery for the baby. Madison wasn't expecting it. But she was thankful. And grateful to him.

She knew she just wanted life to be simple. Especially for their baby. It wasn't always going to be easy. She knew that.

But she was going to do all she could to make it work for both her and Cal. And their baby girl.

Madison knew how she had her doubts about Cal and him stepping up to be a father. But she was proud of the way he had stepped up.

It gave her hope that things would be okay. Despite how difficult it was. Despite all the barriers they had overcome.

Madison had been adamant her baby wasn't going to grow up in a broken family. Not like she had. She didn't know her dad. And her mum was always working.

Madison knew Connie was a good mum. She just always put work first. She didn't mind they though. She just had to somehow make it as though she wasn't the same.

All she knew was that things were changing for her. And she didn't know whether to be scared or not of the changes.

Morning came and rolled over in bed next to Cal. He rested his hand on her hip and kissed her. "Morning beautiful," he said.

"Mmm good morning. I think I love waking up next to you," Madison mumbled as she lifted her leg over his.

Cal pulled her so she was straddling him. He looked up to her. "I want to make you happy Mads. You're my everything."

"Oh?"

Cal sat up and kissed her. He looked to her. "We're gonna be okay. I promise."

Madison went into work. She smiled as Esmè walked over to her. "Your last week here before you become a mummy. How you feeling?" She asked.

"I'm okay. Just feeling anxious about it. But I know I'm a big girl. And can handle it. I just don't like the idea of a tiny human coming out of my lemon hole."

Esmè smirked as she looked to her. "Wow. Lemon hole. Is that what you're calling your vagina now?" She asked.

Madison nodded. "Yes. I'm trying to not use weird words while I'm pregnant. As the baby can pick up what I'm saying."

Esmè rolled her eyes but smiled. She knew that things were hard for her sister. But she just wanted to be there for her.

Cal smiled as he pulled Madison into his arms. He kissed her and looked to her. "We're going on a baby moon. I hope you know. From next week, you and I are going to be in a glorious corner of Devon. Away from everyone and everything."

Madison grinned and kissed him. Not realising how everything was about to come crashing down.
