Po's PoV:

"Yov.." My wolf impatiently prodded in the back of my mind.
"what is it Shiera?" I was annoyed at being disturbed in my sleep. "You know its being a long time since we have been staying in the same place. Jeff had told us to be on move all the time...right?"
"I know, but this place is so packed with humans that we merged in well. There's no danger out here...ummm....but I guess you are right, its been too long.I will think about it." I assured her gently pushing her out of my mind and prepared to get back to sleep when she spoke again, "can we please go somewhere with some trees and fresh air...the city life is kind of getting on my nerves. I miss the feel of grass and smell of mud and the sound of birds and animals. I have been feeling all chocked up lately. And you know it will do you some good too. Goodnight Po".
Well she has a point. She has always been cooped up in my mind and she has never complained. I love her and am greatful to the goddess that she blessed me with such an understanding wolf spirit. Also when i think about it, I too miss the good old mother nature. After all I'm a wolf at heart and I long to feel the earth beneath my bare feet. Once I get this month's salary I will end all ties here and we will leave. But by then I got to find a new place. Where do we go next? As i lay thinking I let sleep slowly take over.

I didn't realize that breaking all ties and moving away would be this difficult. I had woken up early today and packed up what ever little things I had. It was only when he patted on my back and wished me luck with sorrowful eyes did I realized that the old scrooge who was my landlord did care for me for what ever may his reason be. Now I do regret not trying to know more about him...I don't even know his name, and now I'm miles away. Mama B's reaction was kind of expected. The large woman with black beady eyes, caramel skin and curly hair put up in a neat bun, had just engulfed me in a bear hug and kissed me on my cheeks. She then fed me up and packed food for the road all on the house. Before leaving she gave me an amulet which looked pretty old. It's was a pentacle with a butterfly and flowers on it. Mama B asked me to keep it with me at all times for my safty. Though I don't belelive it would I had decided on humoring her and hung it around my neck. It was the least I could do for her. Last stop was at the garage I used to work at and after brief goodbyes and best wishes I left and set out not really sure on where I'm headed to.
I had covered a lot of road and was steadily going on. The sun was setting down the horizon and quite frankly was a beautiful sight. I saw a gas station up ahead. My tank was nearly empty and needed filling up. After filling up my ol' harley and eating up what Mama B had packed, I asked the attendant if there was any motel up ahead to spend the night. But I guess I was out of luck, the place was filled to its capacity and after getting directions for another one I rode off again.

It's been over 4 hours now. Still no sign of civilization. And to make things worse its dark already and I'm now kind of lost. Shiera became more alert and lent me her night vision. " I think we are lost." I tell her. She shifts uneasily in the back of my mind. " Yov, just keep going straight. Im kind of getting the smell of people." "What! That's impossible we are kind of in the middle of nowhere and more specifically we are traveling down the road surrounded by what looks like a forest on both the sides." I mock her. "Come on Yov, trust me... I smell some thing...wait I think it's blood. Yov slow down." What the bloody hell. If she smells blood then its true. One must never doubt a wolf's keen senses so I slow down. "It's getting stronger up ahead Yov." I become more alert as I slowly drive on. Then it struck me too. The distinct smell of freshly shed blood. I stopped and got off. Some thing is peculiar about the smell. And it was then that I realized its werewolf blood.
I quickly walk back to my bike, " Shiera, we need to get out of here as fast as possible. I think we have entered werewolf territory."
" But Yov...someone could be in trouble. We can't just leave them there" she said pushing to gain control of my body. "What!! Are you nuts Shiera? We can't walk into pack lands. Not if we want to stay hidden." I try to fight her need to run to the help of our kind. But she is persistent. " Yov please lets at least go see what has happened. It's not pack land. I can't smell the pack scent. It's free land." I guess someone could be hurt. What kind of a person would I be if I turned my back on someone in need. "Fine Shiera. We will check it out. Be on guard"

The trees look creepy with shadows dancing in the moonlight. I slowly walk deeper into the forest. Shiera's senses perked up. The smell of blood was getting stronger and I could hear growling and yelling and noises suggestive of an on going battle. I keep moving forward as quietly as possible and finally reached a clearing. There I saw six wolves engaged in a fierce battle. A large brown wolf was being attacked by five other smaller wolves. By the looks of it, the brown wolf was a pack wolf and of a considerable position. Could be an alpha, beta or omega of a pack. But the others smell like wet dogs and garbage. That could only mean one thing, rogues. I have never been more angry in my life. Rogues are the most disgusting wolves around. They are defaulters and criminals who were banished from the pack for their crimes. They have no morals and will do anything for money. Rogues had destroyed my pack and I could do nothing about it then. But they are not going to kill that wolf....not today...not on my watch. I have been training my whole life for situations like this.

As I look on one of the rogues leap in the air aiming for the neck of the brown wolf. He was going in for the kill. I quickly throw my pure silver chain knife with well trained precision at it, striking it right between the eyes. The blow is fatal and it drops dead. The smell of burning flesh spreads in the air. Silver burns and causes serious damage to a werewolf. But due to some odd reason I have always been resistant to silver. This was converted to my advantage in battle by re- enforcing all my weapons in silver. This one in particular has always been my favorite, long strong chain made of pure silver strengthened with wolfsbane and nightshade ( both toxic for werewolves) and at the end a 3 inch wide and 7 inch long double edged blade sharp enough to slice through almost anything with ease. I always had it with me safely secured away around my waist. I pull out the blade and assume my battle stance in front of the brown wolf who by now has suffered considerable damage. I wrap one end of the chain tightly around my fingers and focus my attention towards the four rogues in front of me. They are accessing me. Shiera has merged her strength and senses with me. As I wait for their next move I feel my heart beating loudly. Then all of a sudden one of dem makes a leap towards me. I quickly kick off the ground and swing myself behind it, at the same time tightly looping the chain around its neck. The silver was burning into its skin as I tightened the chain slowly choking it. I hear the other wolves moving behind me. I pull out another blade and throw it at one of them while still maintaining the hold on this one. The blade strikes it on its shoulder and the wolf falls down wimpering as the silver burns down into the flesh. While I am distracted the other two rush from either sides. Suddenly I see a flash of brown fur and the brown wolf was tackling one of the toughest to the ground. I quickly sink the blade of the chain down the wolf I have been pinning down and got ready to face the last one when I heard a spine chilling howl by the brown wolf. The rogues suddenly froze and started to retreat dragging their fallen comrades with them.

While I stand confused at what just happened, the brown wolf slowly walks towards me, sniffs me and then collapses at my feet.
"He is badly hurt and has suffered a lot of blood loss." I tell Shiera after I notice the faint breathing and a feeble pulse. He has many open wounds all over some of which are so deep that it may take a few days to heal even with our natural ability to heal faster than humans. "We have to stop the bleeding some how Yov" Shiera panics in my mind. I look at the chain blade wrapped around my hand and an idea pops up. I have seen humans cauterize wounds to stop bleeding. Since sliver burns wolves, pressing the flat end of the blade to the wound might do the trick. I press the blade to one of the cuts and the skin sizzled on contact burning the wound close. The wolf growled and howled in pain as I started covering wound to wound.

I'm so engrossed in my work that I didn't hear any noice behind me, nor did I realize that something or someone had crept up behind me. But by the time I realized its too late and I feel some thing hard strike me on the head. I hear angry voices before I completely black out.
