" So Peter, let me get this straight, you are the son of Omega Olivers!! As in The Omega Olivers? The legendary warrior and Omega to the royal family?" Alpha Whilliams asked asked me with great excitement in his voice. I have been sitting here with the Alpha, Luna, the Beta and his mate for the past half hour explaining who I am and where I come from while the scary looking Omega was watching on. Rambling out the fake details I have been practicing through out the years, was more more difficult than I thought. It opens up a lot of old scars. It's true Jeffrey Olivers was a great warrior. He was our pack's champion and my father's pride. The man I came to call as 'pops' was indeed nothing short of a true legend. And to think about all the sacrifices he made to raise me, his alpha's child as his own even when he could have stayed back and fought to protect his mate and child. I'm forever going to be indepted to him. My only regret is that I was not able to give him a hero's funeral. I do terribly miss him. Being brought back to the reality by the alpha clearing his throat, I look up at him and slowly nod my head, " Yes, my pops is the legendary Omega Olivers". I shift uneasily in my chair as the people around me just sit there and watch me intensely. The alpha's eyes fog a little. That means he is mind linking with someone. There is an uncomfortable silence when suddenly the door opens startling everyone but the alpha. One of the guys who had accompanied me from the holding cell along with the Omega came in with a bundle in his hands. It is wrapped up in thick velvet and the way its being handled with caution makes it something of great value. Or at least I guess it is. He places it on the table in front of the Alpha, bows his head in respect and then leaves. The Alpha carefully unwraps the bundle and reveals the item which had been securely wrapped up. One look at it and I knew what it is. It's my silver chain knife. The very same one I was using to cauterize the Beta's wounds in the forest. Before I can reach out for it, the alpha covers it back up and says," I had my people analyze this incredibly beautiful weapon of yours. And frankly speaking I was astounded to know that its made of silver and also laced with wolfsbane and nightshade. I don't think I have ever come across a wolf who can withstand any of these, let alone a mega combo like this one without being severely incapacitated or burnt and poisoned to death. Yet my men tell me that they are certain that you were weilding this weapon with your bare hands. Would you care to explain?"
Great, just when I thought the questioning was over. I reach out, pour myself a glass of water and take a sip. Some how I get this feeling that it's gone be a long time before I can leave. "Alpha...urr...sir...you must be familiar with the fact that the royal family and rest of the pack was attacked almost 10 years back when least expected. Pops and I survived cause we were out of state at that time. Upon return we were greated by ash, dust and rotting bodies. Who ever attacked left none alive. And its funny that to this date the enemy has not been discovered. Anyway we, pops and I, left that wretched place which haunted us for nights together. And you know loss of ones mate doesn't do well for a wolf. Pops and I had moved down south away from the world we knew trying to start afresh. That was when I had contracted wolfpox. That was the last straw for pops." I sigh as little and my mouth feels all dried up. I grab the glass of water in front of me and gulp it down. That was when I had noticed that Lisa had paled out and was tightly gripping on to Ben. When she notices me looking at her, " Peter, dear isn't wolfpox fatal? No one has ever known to survive the infection. I know for a fact. We lost our only child to the pox." she says as her eyes moisten up. I smile weakly trying to reassure her. "Yes ma'am, its true the pox is fatal. That was why when I got it my pops went ballistic. He had just lost his mate and he couldn't even think of loosing me. So in his moments of desperation he took me to a witch who then ripped the wolf spirit out of me. It was apparently easy to do so as I hadn't shifted yet. So I became almost human and thus resistant to the wolfpox virus. I recovered soon after. The initial plan was to join my human and wolf spirit back again when I fully recovered. But the disease had already done a number on my wolf and when he was re introduced into my body, he went into a coma like state and got locked away so deep in me that even to this day hasn't resurfaced. So I'm a werewolf without a wolf." That is the largest amount of lies I have ever said in a single day. I take a deep breath before I look up at the small audience in front of me. I keep my fingers crossed and wish with all my heart that they buy it and let me go free. I don't want them considering me a threat and locking me up. I tense a little when the alpha gets up. He looks at me and, " Well Peter I have to say your case is certainly extraordinary. And you tell me you entered my territory looking for a new place to settle down. Before I give a verdict on what is to be done about you, I need to discuss it further with my council. So I suggest you stay in the guesthouse for today and tomorrow I will let you know if we consider you safe to allowed near our pack."
"Alpha sir, just give me back my stuff and the keys to my Harley and I will be on my way far way from your territory. I really don't want to be a bother...." Before I can anything else, " That will be all Mr Olivers. I told you I need to make sure you are safe be let loose amongst us, be it my pack or any other for that matter. Now if u don't mind, you will be escorted to the guestroom." Saying so he gets up and leads me to the door from where I am greated by another pack member whom I haven't seen before. The girl who is to escort me is pretty. Compared to my five ten, she is short...may be five two or something like that. Strawberry blonde hair tied up in a messy bun, sea blue eyes hidden behind full frame glasses and freckle dotting her face. She seems tensed in my presence. I smile at her and extend my hand out, " Hi I'm Po ". She smiled at me and shakes my hand," I'm Penny. Here to show you the room." I nod and follow her. We reach a secluded part of the pack house and stop in front of a door. She takes out a key and unlocks the door leading to a room. It's spacious, with a double bed and a balcony. " So Po, this is your room for the night. Food will be brought in later. Towels and fresh cloths have been placed in the bathroom. If you need anything just let me know when I come to check on you later on." Saying so she leaves and I am left alone here. I close the door and lock it. I ease off my jacket and hang it on the chair. The I head towards the bed and plop down on it. It's soft and feels heavenly. I kick off my dusty almost worn out boots and fall back onto the bed with my legs hanging off the sides. It's been a long time since I have laid on something this soft. " A long a shower before going to sleep would be a better option, you know. We stink." I smile to myself. Shiera is back in my head. I get off the bed and enter the bathroom. A tub..great I could really do with some soaking around. I started a warm bath and started stripping the multiple layers of clothing I wear to conceal my body. I take a look at myself. Pops had always told me that I am a splitting image of my mother. I still remember every day I had spent with her. She always smelt like freshly plucked strawberries. I was closer to her than my father. My father was always busy, not that I ever blamed him. He was the king, the fearless leader. But every free time he managed to squeeze out of his schedule he would be there with me and mom. I loved them..no I still love them. I didn't realize I have been crying till I feel the salty taste of tears that ran down to my mouth. I wipe the tears away and concentrate at the image in the mirror. Looking back at me is a fighter, a survivor, not a weak girl of seven years. And I won't go down without a fight no matter what. I hear the water overflowing from the tub and quickly turn of the water. I test the temperature of the water and then pour in lavish amount of bath oil into it. I smirk to myself. After all it's not every day I get to pamper myself.
I finally got out of the water when I was shriveled like a prune. Now I'm standing in the bedroom wrapped up in a towel wondering what to do about my cloths. Just as Penny had informed they had put in a fresh pair of sweatpants and a shirt. Well while I stand pondering on whether I should put on my dirty laundry and be safe or just put on the fresh cloths and risk being discovered, I hear a knock on the door. Oh crap, I grit my teeth in anger. Then I compose myself and ask," who's there?" I hear some shuffling about," hey its me Penny. I got your food." At the thought of food, my stomach starts grumbling. "Hey Penny could you leave it out there? I kind of just got out of the shower." I shout out expectantly. "Umm ok sure. Is there anything else you might be needing? " I could hear the clattering of cutlery as she was keeping it down. "No. Thanks any way Penny." "Ok then. Bye" I let out a sigh of relief as her footsteps muffled away. I unlock the door and quickly pull in the food and then lock the door again. I grab a carrot stick and sit down on the chair. Well looks like I could wear the clean cloths now that no more visits are expected.
Now that I'm washed and fed, the only thing left to do is sleep. But before that I need to come up with an escape plan if ever the need arises. I let Shiera surface as I walk towards the balcony.
