Narrator's PoV:

A lone guard patrols along the West bridge of Castle Lumiere, house of the Gods. He lets out an occasional yawn and rubs his eyes trying to rid them of sleep that is slowly weighing them shut. " Why don't you go get some sleep little one?" a calm soothing voice drifts up to him. He raises his tired eyes to look up the cloaked figure in front of him. Within the folds of grey velvet hood, nestles the kind face of his Queen. A face so beautiful that a word has not yet been forged to describe it with complete justice. The Queen is often known to step out of her inner chambers to roam about in the 'Garden of life'. It is said that she holds a strong bond with the 'Tree of eternal youth' which grows tall and proud right in the middle of the garden. Legend says that the spirit of the tree is her mother. No one knows for sure and no one as yet has mustered the courage to ask her about the authenticity of the legend. Not that she is a cruel queen. Its just that they all love and respect her too much to question her.

"My Lady Selene", he says bowing before her. "Forgive me my lady. I didn't intend to doze off while on duty. Kindly pardon me, my Queen."

"Hush child... You have done me no wrong. But it is I who wronged you. I should have noticed that you have grown tired after the continuous duties that you have been taking." , she says bowing her head and folding her hands in apology.

"My Lady!!! No !! Please don't. You bow to none, and defiantly not to a mere night guard like me." he says falling on his knees and bowing down in at most submission.

Selene smiles pleased with the loyalty of her guard and helps him to his feet.  "Child it is not true you know. I do bow down to a lot of people. Especially the elders. And there is no harm in a little humility every now and then you know. Now... child, i want you to go get some rest. It is not a request, but an order. And ask Sir Santos, head of the guards to send in a replacement." she says walking him to stairs. He smiles back at her, grateful to be relieved of his duty.

After ensuring the guard's retreat to his chambers, Selene slowly walks to the far end of the bridge which is the Western gateway. She peers into the endless darkness that stretches far and wide. Eons ago her father and the other gods changed the alignment of planets and other celestial bodies, making the his golden castle which houses the 'First Flame' the center of the current world. This way he didn't have to drag the First Flame- which later came to be known as the sun, round and round like he previously used to. Since then he confided himself to the four walls of the castle.  But every once in a while her father can be seen riding his golden chariot across the vast nothingness, sometimes creating and sometimes destroying celestial bodies as per the need of the hour. Sometimes he can be seen racing along close enough to earth and that is when the children of earth claim to have seen a comet.  She hears the faint rumble of chariot wheels. Its her father's chariot drawn by Skoll approaching. Her almond shaped silver eyes glow with excitement. It has been a long time since her father visited her and even though his unexpected visit worries her a little, she hides it well behind the happiness of seeing him.

Soon enough the ferocious Warg, Skoll who is almost eight feet high, pitch black with red hell flames burning bright all over his body and blood lust in his eyes is seen, pulling a golden chariot behind him.  And upon the chariot sits the King of kings, the Father of creation, the creator and destroyer of worlds, The Sun God. His brilliantly bright form, is so divine and majestic that not many dares to look at him for the fear of being blinded by the mere sight of him.  Selene smiles brightly and as soon as the chariot halts at the gateway, she rushes to embrace her beloved father. She is soon engulfed in the warm embrace of her father who holds her tightly to himself. After kissing his favorite child and hugging her to his hearts content he lets go of her and asks," Oh little one how have you been?"

"Never been better father... never been better. And how is everything back home?" Selene asks her father who simply smiles back at her. But some how the smile doesn't reach his eyes. She notices that he is burdened by something and it has been weighing down on him for sometime. The fatigue is subtle, but evident on her father. Worried she reaches out and cups his old face in her hands.  " What is it father? Tell me what bothers you?" she asks greatly worried. Her father is the most powerful being in existence and matters that worry him is not to be taken lightly. The all father pulls is youngest child close to himself hoping to calm her and says, " Child... I believe its beginning....."
