Leo Aki lazily leaned against the counter at Pigsy's noodle shop, his eyes fixated on his smartphone. With a nonchalant flick of his hand, he used his shadow powers to mop the floor. Leo was a lazy boy, but he had a secret talent (which everyone around him knows) – the ability to control and manipulate shadows.Leo's relaxed and laid-back nature earned him the nickname "Lazy Noodle Worker," but he didn't mind. It suited him just fine.
As Leo half-heartedly continued his chores, he overheard Tang, the usual freeloader, spinning an intriguing tale to a young boy named Qixaotian, who is prefered to be called MK. Leo's interest was piqued, so he tuned into their conversation.
Tang's voice resonated with excitement as he recounted the legendary battle between the Monkey King and the Demon Bull King. His words painted vivid images of a fierce clash between the two powerful beings, each fighting relentlessly to claim victory.
Using his shadow powers, Leo effortlessly continued to complete his chores, all the while lost in Tang's animated storytelling.
As the tale of the Monkey King and the Demon Bull King reached its climax, Leo's eyes glittered with excitement.
Leo's daydream was abruptly shattered when Tang's story came to an end. Leo realized that his chores were finally complete, thanks to his shadow powers
Before Leo could express his curiosity, Qixaotian, or MK, turned his attention to Leo. "Hey, Leo! Dont you think Monkey king is amazing! Monkey King's so cool! He's so strong and handsome-" as an avid fan of the legendary Monkey King. With wide-eyed enthusiasm, MK eagerly approached Leo's counter, invading his personal space in his excitement.
Leo, unable to match MK's exuberance, lazily rolled his eyes and gently pushed MK away, creating some much-needed personal space. "I know," he sighed, his voice tinged with a hint of amusement. "You don't need to tell me twice, MK."
Though Leo may have appeared aloof, deep down, he was truly captivated by the stories of Monkey King's grand adventures. Like the surface of a serene pond concealing its depths.
Although Leo had a little crush on MK, he made sure to keep his feelings hidden. As he finished up his chores, using his powers to effortlessly around Pigsy's noodle shop, As he went about his tasks, his eyes constantly darted to the interactions between Tang and MK.
"Oh, but I do." MK brought out a book out of no where and threw a couple of pages in the air, "I got his whole life documented extensively in this unauthorized autobiography of Monkey King. Written and illustrated by yours truly. Like, I knew he was born from a stone and lived behind a waterfall with his sweet little baby monkey friends! And- and- and oh!"
MK was excitedly flipping through the pages of his book, his fingers tracing over the drawings and handwritten text. Tang, looked at MK with amusement.
"It's nice to know someone's taking in all these stories," Tang replied, "Pearls of wisdom, dripping from my lips. Well, you know the deal," he began, a hint of mischief sparkling in his eyes. "One story, one free bowl of Zha jiang mian. Hmm?"
Leo sighed and went back to his smartphone, he smirked to himself as he clicked record and pointed it towards the two.
"Huh? Oh right, free noodles!" MK exclaimed excitedly. He hurriedly made his way towards the nearest bowl of noodles that sat innocently on a table and carefully placed his book down beside it. "How heavy do you think a mountain is? Compare to like-"
Before he could finish his sentence, MK's hand was abruptly halted mid-air as a spoon came hurtling towards him, but was stopped by a small shadow wall making the spoon bounce away from the boy.
"Free noodles?!" The noddle bowl was taken away by Pigsy, "No one gets a free meal at Pigsy's! I'm not running a charity here, Tang!" He shouted in anger with a growl.
As the two adults had a one sided argument, Leo walked and stood beside MK still recording the whole thing, "Thanks Leo-"
"And you two!" The chef pointed at MK and Leo making them both jump in surprise, "You two have been slacking off all morning! I've got a dozen orders that need to go out, so quit slacking and get packing!" Pigsy approached them and even took Leo's phone. He's lost his only friend- ahem. Leo raised his hand to say something but Pigsy threw him a piercing gaze that promised a world of hell.
Leo was aware that Pigsy was frightening, but he refused to admit it. The taller man grabbed MK's jacket and dragged him away. "Come on MK, the sooner we finish the deliveries, the sooner you can hear monkey king stories from Tang and the sooner I can take my daily nap."
The two boys sat in their seats after piling everything into the tuk-tuk. Leo activated the GPS while MK put on his headphones, and they soon found themselves driving through the streets of Megapolis. Leo fiddled with the strings of his hood as he gazed out at the city.
Leo saw a sign, "Do NOT Enter", he felt uneasy as he saw the construction site, it looked abandoned. Everything will be ok, if it gets bad he'll just use his powers to get him and MK out of there.
