Haring woke me up to go to the hospital for a checkup. I didn't argue, I was deep in thought. What could I do for Taehyung that would let him know he could trust me again?
I tried to text him, but he had blocked me.
Even if we weren't together, I still wanted to be around him. I wanted to know if he was ok. He'd been my rock for the past few months When everything had bene falling apart.
"Hey JK!" A voice calls as I follow Hairn to the car. A voice filled with fake sweetness. I looked up to see my neighbor Changbin. I felt my chest tighten.
"How's that wound holding up?" He asks me with a big grin. He was leaning over the fence, a baseball hat hiding a bruise on his cheek. He looked full of warmth. His eyes said the words were a threat.
"Oh? Is this one of your school friends?" Harin stops and turns to Changbin.
I didn't know how to explain that this was the boy who'd hired two punks to shoot me in front of a bunch of kids, so I just said yes.
"We go way back" Changbin send me a wink. I felt my hands shaking.
"Oh, maybe you two could study together sometime" Harin flashes him a smile. I give them both a glare.
I took a deep breath and got in the car. I pressed my forehead against the dash and took another deep breath.
Bang.
The stall door slammed closed. He smirks, making his way over to me.
Bang.
The cart door slammed closed. "Yous should invite him over for dinner" She gives me a stern look as we pulled away from the driveway. Like I'd ever have dinner with him.
"No."
"You don't have to be a brat" She snaps.
"I'm being reasonable" I scoff and looked out the window. I didn't want to explain things to her, she was enough to deal with already.
"He seems nice."
"Seems" I elaborate and calm my shaking hands, holding them tightly until my knuckles turned white. She rolls her eyes and continues to drive.
When we get to the hospital, they looked at the gunshot wound and pulled out the stitches. They didn't say anything about my back, but I saw them take notes. They asked me a lot of questions, how I was doing how did the wound feel blah blah blah. They gave me some anxiety meds and then took Harin out to talk to her for a moment.
"Jungkook, what happened to your back?" The doctor walks in. I see Harin glaring at me from the door as it closed again.
"She threw me into a glass wall" I say bluntly.
"Oh?" The doctor seems to have expected something, but not something like that. He stared at me with wide eyes.
"Do you feel safe at home?"
"No" I say, calmly folding my hands. I'd been expecting this. I didn't' expect to shock a doctor, that seemed hard to do.
"Has she done anything else?" He asks.
"No. Just yelling"
"Yelling? About what?" The doctor leans closer. He was writing all this down. Great. "This is a safe space; you can tell me anything."
"I'm trouble. I do shit that's reckless, and it makes her mad" I say. I'd lived off chaos for so long, it felt wrong when things were peaceful.
"On purpose?"
"No. Not really. Things just happen" I shrugged. I'd never really tried to make her mad. I wasn't the son she was envisioning when she adopted me. I didn't know how to be someone's son. I mean, sure I didn't act the most mature in the arguments, but she kept pushing my buttons on top of everything else.
He asked me more questions, then excused me and told me to wait int eh lobby.
"What did you tell them?" Harin snaps at me as soon as I walked out.
I looked down at her. "I told him everything."
She glared and stormed over to a chair, pulling out her phone. I went to the vending machine. I hadn't eaten in a long time. I looked up and saw someone familiar.
Jin was glaring at me.
